Historically, many female voters have identified with the Democratic Party.
These particular “womyn” are emboldened by this perception and feel compelled to capitalize on women’s issues.
According to Democratic women, if a female believes in traditional gender roles, childbearing and self-respect, she is not a woman. Moreover, if that female is a conservative Republican, she is a contemptible human being and a sellout to Wall Street.
Nevertheless, women on the Right dismiss these stereotypes. Instead, they are leading efforts to reform government, engage in debate, and promote femininity.
The question beckons: How will conservative women shape the political landscape in 2012?
As of late, the Republican Party has come under fire for its ineffective leadership.
The men in charge—including Speaker Boehner, Majority Leader Cantor, and Senate Minority Leader McConnell—have insisted on working with President Obama, who has not produced a budget nor produced a plan to stop exorbitant government spending. Instead of actively keeping Obama on his toes, they have kowtowed to him and have ignored the interests of the American people.
If Republican men fail to deliver on their promises, Americans can depend on conservative women to fill the void and fight for principles.
The Tea Party Movement legitimizes conservative women in politics
The emergence of the Tea Party Movement and Sarah Palin’s rise to prominence as John McCain’s running mate in 2008 propelled the emergence of conservative women in politics.
Many were quick to dismiss the Tea Party Movement as a grassroots campaign led by “angry, white males.” On the contrary, women were largely responsible for leading the charge for lower taxes, limited government, and fiscal responsibility.
With the help of the Tea Party Movement, nine women were elected to the House and Kelly Ayotte was elected to the Senate in 2010. As a result, this female-led movement is positioned to elect more conservative women (and men) in 2012.
Bachmann: The Next POTUS?
Despite the Left’s relentless attacks on her faith, her husband, and her record, Michele Bachmann is gaining momentum.
Wall Street Journal reported a surge in Bachmann’s numbers in a recent Iowa GOP poll:
Tea-party favorite Rep. Michele Bachmann (R., Minn.) bested former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, in a poll of likely Iowa caucusgoers released Sunday.
The poll showed 25% of likely caucusgoers support Ms. Bachmann while 21% favor Mr. Romney.
Americans want an honest, down-to-earth candidate that truly represents their interests. They want to confide in the people’s candidate, not the Republican Party’s candidate. It is arguable that Bachmann can be seen in this light.
The more leftists attack her, the more formidable she becomes.
Sarah Palin: Kingmaker or presidential candidate?
The question on everyone’s mind is whether or not Sarah Palin will run for president.
The former Alaska governor is contemplating a run for the White House, and will announce her decision in late August or early September. In a recent Newsweek article, Sarah Palin said she could win if she decided to run:
“I’m not so egotistical as to believe that it has to be me, or it can only be me, to turn things around,” she said. “But I do believe that I can win.”
In the event that Sarah Palin does not run for president, she will be the ultimate conservative kingmaker.
Her influence is profound. She causes a media firestorm with her tweets, and makes a bold statement with each Facebook post. It is undeniable that she will play a vital role in the 2012 election.
Unlike their Democratic counterparts, conservative women embrace and equally compete with men in the quest to reform Washington, D.C. An article from Politico reveals that conservative women want to be judged on their work ethic, not their gender:
“That is one thing we need to be careful of, dismissing our perspective or abilities because we’re women,” Herrera Beutler said. “The temptation is [there], because we don’t believe gender or skin color determines potential, we believe your work, effort and actions develop your potential…”
Regardless of attacks and smear tactics leftists employ on conservative women, they remain positive and held by their convictions.
Look out for Mama Grizzlies and their ilk. They will be a force to be reckoned with in 2012.
