I will admit that I am 34 years old and will be voting for the first time in my life. I was not raised in a political household and like most Americans have taken my rights for granted. Now that I have 3 children, one a teenager, I want my children to understand their rights that so many people in other countries long to have. I had been undecided on whom I would pick for President and asked everyone I knew who they were voting for and why. I was a Hilary fan and was crushed when she lost. I decided that I would watch the debate tonight and choose my candidate. I understood most of the political talk, and agreed with both sides on certain issues. My defining moment did not happen with an answer from Obama or McCain. My defining moment was at the end of the debate when the candidates and their wives were shaking hands with the audience. My first thought after seeing Michelle Obama walk around and shake hands, was ‘Why is she walking around like she’s running for President?’ Cindy McCain was standing by her man, like the First Lady should be doing, not walking around acting like she’s the show. Then when Michelle Obama brushed Cindy McCain off, not even acknowledging her, after John McCain had shaked her hand… that was the moment. I hope I’m not the only one who saw that rude display! Maybe it will be the defining moment for someone else too.
