The Democrats Were Never Serious About Impeachment

Oh, they’d love to kick President Trump out of office but they know they can’t!

House expected to vote Wednesday to send impeachment articles to Senate

Washington — House Democrats are preparing for a vote on a resolution to name impeachment managers and transmit articles of impeachment to the Senate on Wednesday.

At a meeting with fellow Democrats on Capitol Hill, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi laid out the timing for the vote to transmit the articles and designate managers to prosecute the case against President Trump in the Senate trial, according to a Democratic aide. Lawmakers emerging from the meeting unanimously said they support the plan.

Pelosi did not reveal the names of the impeachment managers in the meeting, but several members said they assume the team will be led by Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler and Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, who both spoke in the meeting and laid out in detail how the Senate trial will work.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has told Republican senators to expect the trial to get underway on Tuesday, January 21, according to two lawmakers. Pelosi delayed sending the articles to the upper chamber to pressure McConnell to allow witnesses at the trial, a question he says will be put to the full Senate once proceedings get underway.

Speakess of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) could have sent the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate before Christmas, but no, she delayed transmission for political reasons. When she didn’t get what she wanted, because Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) wouldn’t budge, she caved and said on Friday, January 10th, that she would send the Articles to the Senate this week.

So, she took three weeks to decide to send the Articles over, and wasn’t ready to name House managers for the impeachment trial. Then she meets with her caucus on Monday, and still didn’t name the managers.

And here I thought that the Democrats considered President Trump to be a hugely dangerous and imminent threat to our country! Apparently he’s not so horribly dangerous that the Democrats thought it couldn’t wait a whole month to get the impeachment trial rolling.

Let’s face facts: the Democrats know, and have known all along, that they have virtually no chance of the Senate actually removing Mr Trump from office. They simply wasted a year trying to assuage their spittle-flecked base.

The Democrats claimed that the report of the special persecutor, Robert Mueller III, would show that the President had committed felonies. When it didn’t, they insisted that yes, it really did, but Mr Mueller was too constrained by Department of Justice rules to say so. But, when writing their Articles of Impeachment, they never charged Mr Trump with anything from the Mueller Report.

Then, when an ‘unnamed whistleblower’ — whose name everybody already knows, Obama Administration National Security Council holdover Eric Ciaramella — said that in a telephone call to which he was not personally privy the President threatened to withhold aid from Ukraine unless that country investigated a sweetheart arrangement with the son of former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democrats screamed bloody murder, but did not charge Mr Trump with attempted bribery.

Instead, they made up, out of nothing, two charges that specified no crimes, because they couldn’t come up with a chargeable crime. His real crime? Defeating Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election!

Well, sorry Democrats, but that won’t work for you, nor will anything else. If you want President Trump out of office, you’ll have to beat him in the next election.
