A Fresh Set of Clothes

By Karen Cacy

Colorado Springs, February 10, 2016 — Yes, Dr. Ben Carson travelled home to Florida from Iowa for a fresh set of clothes. Given the Cruz Campaign’s tactics, not to mention CNN’s and others’ compliance with same, it’s no surprise the doctor might need a long, hot shower.

As if we didn’t already know it, politics is a dirty business. “If you can’t stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen,” goes the refrain. Or, “It isn’t bean-bags.”

Enter one moral and upstanding citizen candidate. Follow him as he traverses the nation, writes books on United States governance and history, and establishes reading rooms in schools throughout the country. Believe in him and in our country’s forbearance for new ideas, democracy and the rule of law. Trust that a good candidate, well and truly citizen-based and funded can prevail.

Or, return to business as usual. The one with the biggest . . . well, you know . . . is the winner, be that person a man or woman. You catch my drift here. Shh! Children are about!

Years ago, the nation sent another quiet intellectual packing – Adlai Stevenson. Which just goes to show even some democrats can be too smart and thoughtful for the electorate to embrace. Congratulations. The dumbing down of our schools and media-driven society has finally brought us to the promised land.

And what does the promised land look like? It’s life lived in short sound bites, big derrieres and loud voices. It’s tabloid journalism except these days the standards have slipped even for the so-called ‘legitimate’ press.

Political correctness, Dr. Ben Carson’s primary target, has brought us to this place of ‘no-speak.’ Those who dare to speak the truth, quietly and openly, are marginalized and kicked to the curb by a society too contemporary and self-important to pause to listen.

Dr. Ben Carson’s still in the race. There’s still time to listen to reason.

America? Are you there anymore?
