Enact a Windfall Profits Tax to Provide a $1,000 Emergency Energy Rebate to American Families:Barack Obama and Joe Biden will enact a windfall profits tax on excessive oil company profits to give American families an immediate $1,000 emergency energy rebate to help families pay rising bills. This relief would be a down payment on the Obama-Biden long-term plan to provide middle-class families with at least $1,000 per year in permanent tax relief.
So that’s it? $83.33 a month is enough to help solve this?
While wages remain flat, the costs of basic necessities are increasing. The cost of in-state college tuition has grown 35 percent over the past five years. Health care costs have risen four times faster than wages over the past six years. And the personal savings rate is now the lowest it’s been since the Great Depression.
But wait there’s more “relief for ordinary Americans”:
Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) said on NBC’s “Today” show: “Our tax plan would take that tax cut of another $130 billion that John [McCain] wants to give to people making over $250,000 next year, not let it go forward and give it to the middle class — the very people who desperately need it to stay in their homes… to be able to go out and buy a toaster.”
Obama Dismisses Gas Tax Holiday
Senator Says Gimmick Won’t Help Consumers, Designed To Get Rivals Through Election
(AP) Democrat Barack Obama dismissed his rivals’ calls for national gas tax holiday as a political ploy that won’t help struggling consumers.
“We’re arguing over a gimmick that would save you half a tank of gas over the course of the entire summer so that everyone in Washington can pat themselves on the back and say they did something,” said Obama.
“Well, let me tell you, this isn’t an idea designed to get you through the summer, it’s designed to get them through an election,” said Obama.
According to the Energy information Administration (excuse the link), the gas tax holiday would’ve save a family earning $75,00 approx $25 a month. So $25 a month is a political ploy and $83 saves us all. Who’d’ve thunk it.
Wick is just one of hundreds of Republicans and Independents that are supporting Barack.
There are “hundreds of Republicans and Independents” supporting Barack. Wow, that’s a lot. Better than tens, I guess.
