The case about marijuana

Today we see all over the news about “medical marijuana”, and all these studies touting the benefits of it. Those of you familiar with history also knows they tried the same thing with alcohol 100 years ago to end the prohibition and cigarettes 60-70 years ago.

One major difference today is their reliance on cherry picked falsified “studies” that are designed with the end result predetermined in order to cherry pick the data that fits that end result, and completely ignores the data that does not fit. As this becomes a bigger issue, we start to see some real scientific studies that looks at all the data, not just data to fit their desired outcome. As these studies are releasing their findings, we start to see more people (aka liberals and pot heads) completely ignore them and use their typical anti-tolerant slander to claim and attack anything that doesn’t agree with their opinions as any variety of names.

Today most proponents fall under one of 3 categories, using a variety of tactics to achieve their end goal: the simple minded drug addicts who want all pot (and most other drugs) legalized, the uneducated who actually believe there is medical use for marijuana, and then the libertarian minded who believe it should fall to the states within the Constitutional states rights, or to the people to choose for themselves. The first group can easily be dismissed because the only reason they want it legalized is so they can legally continue their drug abuse, thus continue being a drain on society and paid by the liberal establishment for being lazy. The second group is simply misinformed as to the reality and dangers that these drugs have on people, and attach some sort of medical excuse to their desired agenda, but in the end they are no different than the drug abusers themselves. The third is a bit more tricky because they do have merit in their stance, but their perspective of complete government deregulation and legalization of marijuana comes way out of left field, but they fail to see the long term impact.

Anyone who does more than 5 minutes of study, and looks at this from both sides, not some predetermined opinions already formed, sees that there is potential for certain chemical aspects of it. We find that there is quite a bit of history behind marijuana and hemp. It starts almost 150 years ago when multiple industries lobbied Congress to ban it. Tobacco farmers saw it as a threat to their profits, cotton and textile growers saw hemp as a threat to their bottom line, and bars saw these “hashish parlors” as a threat to their businesses, so they all banded together to get it banned through labeling it as a poison, and getting the 1905 USDA to go along with it. This allowed the 1906 laws to require labeling of exact contents of all medical and drug related items, and eventually many states started passing their own bans, starting with several New England states from 1911-1914. The Great Depression and the Democrats massive tariff increase on imported goods allowed them to also pass federal legislation thus further restricting all aspects of marijuana and hemp, which by that time was primarily imported from the orient. It was not until the 1970s when science started to take a look at it again did some states start to relax their laws and start allowing it for medicinal purposes again.

With modern science, they are able to genetically modify and adjust the THC level within the plants, allowing for low to no THC levels for the purpose of medical use. The main issue then becomes the primary ingestion method, which is primarily done by smoking like a cigarette. Anytime something is burned and inhaled, its direct attachment to the oxygen sensors and pockets in the lungs causes both short term and long term damage. At least with tobacco, over time the tar is flushed and within 10 years the lungs have mostly healed themselves with a little permanent damage typically caused more by the chemicals and fiberglass found in the filters. The same cannot be said about cannabis, which soaks into those same receptors both in the lungs and the brain which kills them off, turning off the very white blood cells needed to repair the body, causing lasting long term damage. This is why most pot smokers (regardless of THC content) have the lazy eye lids, because the part of the brain that controls that part of the body is damaged and doesn’t allow the person full function to them anymore.

Some that claim to be Christians many times cite Bible sources for their stance on legalization and pot usage. The most common entry is Genesis 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.  The problem with that perspective is the context; this was God saying that he gave permission for humans to use plants for food and shelter, and plants to feed animals that will also become food (meat). This is supported by the very next passage, Genesis 1:30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for food: and it was so. At no point does it say “for recreation”, which is now why many so called Christians are twisting the pro-drug perspective to medical use. At no point is there a reference to medical use of toxic plants, although the general use of leafy plants for use by man is referenced several times, almost exclusively as food.

Some entries specify that the fruit is for food and the leaf is for medicine, which taken literally means if it does not produce fruit for food, then the leaves are poison and not medicinal. The first such reference is Ezekiel 47:12 And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine. Combine that with the recognition of medicinal items in the newer Apocrypha texts, shows that certain plants are medicinal by Gods hand, not by mans choice: Sirach 38:4 The Lord hath created medicines out of the earth; and he that is wise will not abhor them.

With such a massive corporate system paying off government these days, we have a system where they create drugs to lessen the symptoms, instead of cure the people. Pharmaceutical companies know that if people are cured, they no longer need to pay for drugs on a regular basis, so most cures when found are buried. This leads to drugs to treat symptoms, then more drugs to treat the side effects, then more drugs to treat the side effects by the side effect drugs. This is where the so called “medicinal marijuana” comes into this “side effect” culture. They refuse to cure people, keeping people sick, then help tout drugs like marijuana that mask the symptoms (many times caused by their own drugs), allowing people to forget or at least set aside their sickness for short periods of time.

The question then becomes, why legalize something that helps expand corporatism (corporate controlled government)? Is that true freedom? In the end it is nothing more than giving people the illusion of freedom of choice, but either choice will help keep people sick and corporations peddling their drugs to keep from curing anyone.
