Susan Rice's Incidental Surveillance Not So Incidental ?

For months the mantra has been “They were incidentally surveilled” when questions about how the Trump Transition Team conversations came to be recorded, their names revealed and ultimately leaked to a press that was primed to use the information. Well it now looks like that incidental surveillance wasn’t so incidental and was carefully crafted to vacuum up their conversations going as far back as 2015 (possibly around the time Trump announced his candidacy).

Reverse Targeting

First lets look at how your “Reverse Target” someone. The idea is very simple imagine a plane with a point on it. The point represents someone who you can’t wiretap without a court order.

Next imagine the same plane with red points and blue points. The red and blue points represent all the people that you can surveil.

Only the red points are actually in communication with the person you want to surveil but can’t. But you can surveil all the red and blue, find out the exactly who is talking to the person you actually want to surveil and then tap all their conversations just so you can filter it down to the ones you actually want.

Like so. You have just tapped the person you couldn’t tap legally without ever seeming to break the law.

IT LOOKS LIKE THIS COULD BE EXACTLY WHAT WAS DONE

Former President Barack Obama’s national security adviser Susan Rice ordered U.S. spy agencies to produce “detailed spreadsheets” of legal phone calls involving Donald Trump and his aides when he was running for president, according to former U.S. Attorney Joseph diGenova.

“What was produced by the intelligence community at the request of Ms. Rice were detailed spreadsheets of intercepted phone calls with unmasked Trump associates in perfectly legal conversations with individuals,” diGenova told The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group Monday.

“The overheard conversations involved no illegal activity by anybody of the Trump associates, or anyone they were speaking with,” diGenova said. “In short, the only apparent illegal activity was the unmasking of the people in the calls.”

Other knowledgeable official sources with direct knowledge and who requested anonymity confirmed to TheDCNF diGenova’s description of surveillance reports Rice ordered one year before the 2016 presidential election.

Emphasis Mine
The all important thing here is to have a list of numbers that the target is in communication with that you can tap. You also need an intelligence apparatus that can do things like collect who you are calling and record all a targets calls for later playback without every leaving the office.  Oddly enough ours can do just that and more http://www.wnyc.org/story/running-list-what-we-know-nsa-can-do-so-far/ (sorry for just a link, the list of the ways the NSA can spy on you is a bit long)
Where This Leaves Us ?

We have Susan Rice, compiling lists of Trump associates and the people they are talking to. We have people on those lists being tapped. We have the  “Incidentally Tapped” Conversations unmasked at the order of high officials in the Obama Administration. We have Obama Executive Order 12333 That spreads “RAW SIGNALS” intelligence to most of the intelligence community. We have Susan Rice going on television and lying about knowledge of the spying and finally we have the “Incidentally Tapped” calls from the list of callers that just happened to be talking to a presidential candidate and his associates.

You can make all kinds of arguments about spying on foreign officials but you don’t work outward from Americans to get there, at least not without some due process. This is really ugly for all of us to put it in perspective Nixon only had a handful of plumbers involved in Watergate, this time around it’s a good fraction of our intelligence community that was abused.
