I have to admit I was only mildly disturbed about our “beloved” President’s Executive order on behavioral science. With everything else this administration has shoved down the collective American throat, some mumbo jumbo physcological babble could be expected from them. My friend Nicholas Short (I hope you do not mind me calling you a friend) addressed why we should be concerned about the Governments physcological “nudges” in his recent blogpost. Basically a nudge from the Government comes when they wish to adjust the perception or behavior of the public on an issue to advance “citizens towards certain behaviors and choices to advance the goals of the adminstration and the federal government.”Nicholas Short concludes his blogpost: ” In short, a government of “nudges” envisioned by those of likes of Sunstein and created by Obama, is a government that disregards the free will of the individual to make their own choices. It brings to mind a government described by George Orwell in Animal Farm as he wrote, “No one believes more firmly than Comrade Napoleon that all animals are equal. He would be only too happy to let you make your decisions for yourselves. But sometimes you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and then where should we be?”
Wow, we citizens must think or behave in a certain way to be socially acceptable to our Government? My initial reaction was that no Government can change my beliefs as an individual what so ever. Nicholas Short has had me pondering this question since he posted his blog the other day, but lo and behold the answer struck me in the form of an article from Express News out of the UK as how they could actually make this work. Scientists are now claimimg that they can change a person’s belief system! Do you have an abnormal belief in God, well science can fix that now. are you disturbed by your own anti-immigrant views, science can fix that too. Scientists in the UK are now claiming that using a technique called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), that they can alter ones beliefs. TMS, “which is used to treat depression, involves placing a large electromagnetic coil against the scalp which creates electric currents that stimulate nerve cells in the region of the brain involved in mood control”. According to the article, belief in God was reduced by a third among participants and opposition to immigration was reduced by 28%. This is great news, science sanctioned brain washing to eliminate political opposition. My question is why stop at God and immigration? I have further suggestions:
1. Conservatism bad, Progressive good
2. Guns kill, we must eliminate all guns
3. Infanticide up to 5 years of age is compassion.
4. Euthanasia for elderly, handicapped and others for the betterment of society.
5. Israel is evil, we must exterminate all Jews
6. Christianity is evil, the world must accept Islam
7. Vote Democrat…….. (Hmmm… me thinks that over 51% of the population has already succombed to this one).
Well, you get the idea and please feel free to add to my list of brain washing projects for the US Oligarchy to consider. How long will it be before Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy becomes a feature of Obamacare? Be careful out there because it truly is dangerous to be a Constitutional Conservative Christian today.
