About two months ago, the GOP took over both the House of Representatives and the Senate. After they finished patting themselves on the back at the rout they delivered to the Democrats, both houses re-elected their leaders, Congressman Boehner and [mc_name name=’Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’M000355′ ]. There was some minor resistance to them being re-elected, but it was token resistance at best.
Those of us that live out side the fishbowl that is Washington DC knew how well those two clowns would work out. They make Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels from the movie “Dumb and Dumber” look like rocket scientists!
After McConnell’s incompetent leadership in the Senate regarding the recent DHS funding; I don’t know how he could have failed any more spectacularly? Oh I don’t know, spontaneously combust? He is older than dirt. He handed the potato-of -failure back to Boehner who, not to let McConnell out-fail him, goes to Pelosi for help to save his bacon. He then looses more GOP votes and, wait for it, fails!
They both need to go. That is clear. But it goes deeper than that. They have to go. There is a difference. Their “needing to go” implies a choice. We do not have the luxury of allowing them a “choice.” The stakes are just too high. We have a President that is acting more like a king, than a person that was elected. We have a Presidnet that is deifying constitutional limits. We have no idea just how far he will take things.
There needs to be someone in each house that can, and is willing to lead. There has to be a group of men and women in congress that see the danger of such weak leadership that are willing to take the risks, step-up, and remove Boehner and McConnell.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. The leadership in Washington has been insane long enough. We have to do something different. We need effective leaders.
