Washington State Republican Icon Passes

Thomas Stewart, Seattle native and patriot, died in a helicopter accident on Sunday.  He was a very active member in the Washington State Republican Party.  He would hold a Barbeque in the summer, with huge crowds attending,  before the Republican Convention to get people together to meet candidates, network with other delegates, and for people to get to know others in the party and become more involved.  His picnic would create a stir for about a week after in the local media, and charged up the base for coming elections.

He was a very successful businessman, starting Services Group of America.  He had headquarters on Delridge Way, built in a convex shape with gold tinted windows, so as to reflect the image of the most gigantic American flag I have ever seen in my life.  Driving up Delridge on a sunny day you would see the image reflecting in his building, rippling and waving and beautiful.

He built a heli-pad on top, but was unable to use it because the Lefties in local government had “concerns”.  He fought for his corporate rights over this, but the government “won”.  He moved his business to Arizona where they didn’t have “concerns”.  The building now houses the Department of Social and Health Services, rather than a job and tax producing “Services”.

This picture doesn’t do it justice, just trust me, it made a big impression

His presence, and his contribution to the community has already been missed, but his proud, unabashed patriotism will not be forgotten.  Rest in Peace, Tom Stewart
