Six Four days ago Mitt Romney was endorsing Terri Lynn Land, Michigan’s former Secretary of State, in her bid for the open-seat being vacated by Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI)2%. Four days later Hours ago, the NRSC just pulled its million-dollar TV ad buy on her behalf for late October and liberals are salivating at the gift, while bashing her in their progressive #WarOnWomen for being a mother. From Vox:
“This paves the way for the Democratic candidate, Rep. Gary Peters, to pick up an easy win in the open seat race. If you’ve been reading Vox’s Senate forecast roundup, you won’t be surprised by this at all — the most optimistic forecast for Land gave her only a 13 percent chance to win this morning…”
While Romney was rallying on Land’s behalf explaining that she would help turn the tide on the Keystone-pipeline energy question, she followed up by hitting her opponent over ObamaCare, “I’ll tell you what’s a war on women — not being able to keep your doctor when you’re going through a (health) crisis.” Aside from the latest polling which puts her 9 points behind (42%-33%) a few days ago, perhaps it’s Land’s campaigning against ObamaCare that sent shivers down the NRSC’s spine (does it even have a spine?). Her Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)9%-backing and liberal-loving opponent, Rep. Gary Peters (D-MI)9% has yet to reach even the 50% polling threshold. He is not well liked by any independent Michigander.
Courtesy of Breitbart, a new poll shows Terri Lynn Land now polling within the margin of error and only 2.6% behind:
The poll is good news for Land, who saw a slip in the polls along with pretty much all other Republicans nationwide after President Barack Obama launched airstrikes against Syria in late September—a slip that had fueled speculation, especially with the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) shifting money around by pulling $850,000 in planned television ads off the air there, that Republicans had given up on the Wolverine State.
It also comes amid scores of brutal attacks from the institutional left, Peters and his allies against Land. Peters, who is backed by environmentalist leftwing groups many of which are funded by billionaire hedge fund manager Tom Steyer, and his allies attacked Land over the environment for weeks.
But after a series of fact checks by local media—and aggressive investigative reporting by conservative media into Peters’ hypocrisy with various investments he has in energy companies—the liberal groups seem to have retreated.
Michigan is winnable when fought for and not given up on as the ’08 McCain campaign was so quick to do, to Sarah Palin’s dismay. Though left-leaning media has labeled Land a less-than inspirational GOP senate candidate, Michigan is a purple-state when its Republican Gov. Rick Snyder is coasting to reelection victory, the Republicans run both state chambers and the majority of its congressional delegation is in the GOP hands. Granted Terri Lynn Land is not some right-leaning conservative like Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS)93% or Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS)53%, which the NRSC has bent over backwards to support, but at least she travels with her husband and lives in Michigan.
This is another reason for this guy not to ever donate to the NRSC but to candidates directly. If you care to support Terri Lynn Land’s campaign, you can do so here.
