Random Thoughts

At one time or another most all of us have been guilty of it. We have sat back and allowed events to take place around us, either because we didn’t concern ourselves with the event or we didn’t believe that we could prevent it from taking place. I have often times done that exact thing – nothing!! Let me introduce myself. My name is Glendon Watts, and I have been doing little more than vote in elections since I was old enough to cast my first vote. I proudly served my country in the army during the mid-90’s. As clichéd as it sounds, I enlisted so that I could in some small way earn a little of the freedoms that have been afforded me. Due to medical reasons I wasn’t able to continue my service and wish that I could have done more to help “purchase” freedom for future generations. My heroes have all been patriotic and iconic, and have unfortunately, passed into the annals of history, all but one. It is that one that I would like to speak mostly about. She has been an influence in most of our lives since birth; teaching me and all those who love her how to stand up for our political and religious beliefs, rights, and values. From her we have learned to hold our heads high and be proud of our country, our heritage, and of ourselves. She has watched over us to see that we grow in relative safety and has afforded us every opportunity to pursue our happiness. Those who don’t know her yearn for her presence; so that they too can find happiness and experience the same opportunities. I am of course speaking of that great lady we know as Liberty.

In the past score of years Liberty has become weakened from the constant onslaught of Marxism, socialism, radical liberalism, and intentional ignorance. We, as a people, are failing our great Lady by allowing our government to grow into more than what our U.S. Constitution defines. I know and understand the fundamental difference between Democrat and Republican, but in the times in which we live these terms have become irrelevant. Socialism and Liberty/Capitalism are now the two philosophies of an ongoing tug of war in our nation where the greatest loser would be Liberty.

Karl Marx wrote “Just as capitalism replaced feudalism, capitalism itself will be displaced by communism, a classless society which emerges after a transitional period—socialism—in which the state would be nothing else but the revolutionary dictatorship of the proletariat” 1

To continue down the road on which we find our nation heading will do little more than to achieve the goals that have been laid out as a blueprint by a man that opposed a way of life that he had never experienced. This would lay to waste the very ideals and achievements that our founding fathers brought forth and scribed into a single document that gave birth to a new nation. Later these ideals were formed into our Constitution that socialists and Marxists have been whittling away at for years. As few in number that they are they have caused much damage; however, they are not fully to blame. We who love Liberty, but yet do not stand to defend her, share the burden of guilt equally as those who seek to destroy her. For as long as we only stand up and shout at televisions, radios, and newspapers. As long as we gripe to our closest friends and families of similar viewpoints as ours, we are no better than they who would tear down our country. No matter how angry or frustrated we get, unless we focus that anger and frustration into motivation to change the course upon which we find ourselves we will be doing nothing more than getting out of the way of the socialist/communist movement in this country! How far will we allow this government to take us before enough of us wake up?

If you are reading this then you have at least realized the importance of issues of our time. But then I’m essentially preaching to the choir. We need to awaken all those who love Liberty, and motivate them, and inspire them. Allow them to see for themselves that these issues aren’t Republican or Democrat, or even liberal or conservative. These are American issues that affect all those who claim to be American. We are at risk of losing Lady Liberty if we continue to allow people into office with socialist viewpoints and agendas. I believe that we the people of this nation get what we deserve. If we elect socialists then we deserve what the socialists will give us. Likewise, if we elect those led by divine providence we then also get what we deserve. But that’s an entry for another time.

In closing I would like for you to read the following quote:”The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened.” – Norman Thomas

Awake yet?
