We Have Taken Control Back

Now that we have won a significant battle in the Senate and further secured out position in the house … now what?

We still have many obstacles to overcome … and not the least is to change the way we think about our approach to 2016. We must stop the in-fighting within our party, as it is so often said, we are our own worst enemy. We must not lose control.

There are some real problems with leadership in both houses … I remember, back in 2008, when many here hoped [mc_name name=”Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)” chamber=”house” mcid=”B000589″ ] was going to be a good choice for the White House and I was included in that group … how lucky we were that never happened.

The hardest work is ahead … there will be a real struggle between [mc_name name=”Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY)” chamber=”senate” mcid=”M000355″ ] and [mc_name name=”Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)” chamber=”senate” mcid=”C001098″ ] over ideals and directions. They are not friends and don’t pretend to be. [mc_name name=”Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY)” chamber=”senate” mcid=”M000355″ ] will try to keep [mc_name name=”Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)” chamber=”senate” mcid=”C001098″ ] in check and that will make Ted even more steadfast in his beliefs.

It’s not going to be an easy thing to do … but we must keep our sights on 2016 and not get bogged down with the distractions that are sure to come along in the House and Senate. At this point, I still don’t have a clear preference … a sensible one that is … on who our best bet will be to go against “Billary” and that machine.

We must come together, put aside our differences of personal choice, and work to get the best candidate we can all agree on elected. It got pretty ugly here in the lead up to ’08 with everyone choosing to side with their own personal choices and bad mouthing others. I remember there were more than a few that got suspended from Red State over personal attacks on a fellow member because they were for [mc_name name=’Sen. John McCain (R-AZ)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’M000303′ ] or Ron Paul or … well you get the idea.

In the end we lost to the worst President we’ve ever had, IMHO, because we didn’t put our heads together and we put forth a candidate that was NOT electable. How can we prevent that again? I don’t know yet, but we have an incredible team here led by the likes of Eric and Moe … just to name two.

I haven’t been active is years … methinks it’s time to get back into the game.
