Is Trump sane?

For the last 24 hours, as Donald Trump has issued multiple versions and revisions of what happened, or didn’t,  in Iowa, and why; much of the MSM, and all of the blogosphere, including many here at Red State, have engaged in a frantic paroxysm of psychoanalyzing Trump’s Tweets and comments.  From initially graciously congratulating Cruz on his win, to then claiming that Cruz cheated (and demanding a new caucus), to now loudly proclaiming that in fact, he, Trump, actually won Iowa; everyone is attempting to understand what Trump’s up to.

Is he attempting to seize the initiative in NH by going hard on the attack? Is he just lashing out because he lost, and thus, the major raison d’etre  of his campaign..his invincibility, his inevitability, has been discredited. So, by claiming he did in fact win Iowa, can Trump reestablish that aura?

Those of us who lived during the Cold War remember that the CIA employed a whole legion of individuals called “Kremlinologists.” Basically, it was their job to study whatever tidbits of information leaked from the monolithic, inscrutable Kremlin, and interpret them.  So if, to take one scenario, PRAVDA  published a picture of Brezhnev, or of Gorbachev looking even more dyspectic than usual, they would conclude that he was heavily constipated and thus far more likely to invade some pissant country in the next three days. This type of “analysis” went on for decades, yet the entire intelligence establishment missed the boat on the implosion of the Soviet Union.

It is thus more than possible that we are missing the picture with “The Donald.” Instead of trying to divine if his latest Tweet is a stroke of political brilliance, we should instead be asking IS TRUMP SANE?

Some have already  begun to tiptoe around the question, wondering if Trump is fit to be commander in chief. What they’re really asking is can we trust Trump with the nuclear codes? Not in the sense of “Fail Safe,” rather more like “Dr. Strangelove.”

But here’s what we already know about Trump:

1. He is a megalomaniac. “Megalomania”  is defined as  “a delusional mental disorder that is marked by feelings of personal omnipotence and grandeur..”

2. He is a narcissist. Individuals with narcissistic personality disorder generally believe that the world revolves around them. … Narcissistic Personality Disorder involves arrogant behavior, a lack of empathy for other people, and a need for admiration-all of which must be consistently evident at work …

Does anyone NOT think that this is Trump personified?

Thus, instead of attempting to  understand, explain, or even rationalize, the latest “whatever”  bleat from Trump, we instead have to begin to question if the man who  currently is in the lead for the GOP nomination for president is mentally fit for the job.

IS HE SANE?

This is  not to suggest that Trump is “bat-shit crazy,” or living in the penthouse with an elevator that doesn’t go all the way to the top. Many megalomaniacal narcissists can function for years at a high level.

Just not in the Oval Office.

One last point about Trump.  Like Putin, for whom he oft professes admiration, for decades, Trump has NEVER had one person to tell him NO, DON’T DO THIS. IT’S NOT A GOOD IDEA.

And a person who believes he is the brightest bulb in the room; who knows it all, who thinks everyone else is an idiot..that person is not fit to be president.
