“Deep Impact” was a pretty good sci fi/disaster flic. The 1998 movie tells the story of what happens when earth gets clobbered by an asteroid, and mankind almost, but not quite, manages to avoid being vaporized.
The movie was also a pretty good omen of what was to come. Morgan Freeman plays POTUS, who just happens to be black. And Tea Leoni is an investigative reporter who stumbles onto the biggest ( and yes, ..the last) story of her career.
Leoni is now busy trying each week to give Hillary Clinton an electoral bump, as she plays a female Secretary of State on “Madame Secretary.” Her supposedly “unintended” caricature of Clinton, from the hairdo to the pantsuits, is well….scary, eerie, weird ( take your pick) and as for the love scenes..well……ugh, just plain ugh.
But back to the movie. When the SecState suddenly resigns, Leone is convinced that he was forced out because his supposed affair was about to become public knowledge. ( Again folks..remember..this is 1998…the year of Lewinski). See, she’s picked up crumbs about this woman name “Ellie” ( and possibly an homage to Donna Douglas, who played Ellie Mae Clampett on “The Beverly Hillbillies”)
Well, it turns out that there was no woman, and no affair. “Ellie” is E.L.E. is government speak for Extinction-Level Event, which is how the gummint bureaucrats termed the upcoming apocalypse.
Sort of like “workplace violence” or “man caused disaster,” I guess.
Watching last night’s GOP debate, I suddenly felt very confident that regardless of who is the nominee, Hillary Clinton is going to lose the election. Obama’s poll numbers resemble a sinkhole, and there is simply no way that Hillary will be able to separate herself from him, let alone convince people that all this country really needs is four more years of the last seven.
That dog just ain’t gonna hunt. Period.
And when I see polls that say that say that today, after San Bernardino massacre, ONLY 27% of Democrats think that national security and terrorism is the most important issue facing the nation; well, then it means that the GOP is going to run the table with independent voters, and that’s pretty much all she wrote.
But after Hillary loses, whither the Democrat party? The two most public faces of the donkey will be [mc_name name=’Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)’ chamber=’house’ mcid=’P000197′ ] and Chuckie Schumer. They have as much charisma as Rahm Emanuel.
And ask yourself, on Nov 9, 2016, who will be on the morning line for the 2020 nomination?
Julian Castro? (who???)
Each of these is funnier, and more pathetic than the last, and yet, that’s all that there is.
Folks, their cupboard is BARE, and the Dems have nobody coming up through the ranks.
So, Hillary loses, and the GOP holds the House and the Senate (and actually picking up a few seats along the way)
That, folks, is a total wipe out…an E.L.E for the Democrat party.
And if we conservatives manage to win the nomination for one of our own..say [mc_name name=’Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’C001098′ ], well, the GOP(e) is going to have a miserable four years. Cruz will not compromise, nor will he allow himself to play the old inside the Beltway game of going along to get along. He never did so while in the Senate, so once he’s in the Oval Office, and holding all the cards, why would he do so then?
Nope, there’s gonna be a new sheriff in town, and the GOP(e) had better get used to it, and fast…
