From the NRSC homepage: (my emphasis in bold)
“The NRSC (National Republican Senatorial Committee) is the only national organization solely devoted to strengthening the Republican Senate Majority and electing Republicans to the United States Senate.”
“We provide invaluable support and assistance to current and prospective Republican U.S. Senate candidates in the areas of budget planning, election law compliance, fundraising, communications tools and messaging, research and strategy.”
On today’s RS front page, there are three superb, must read diaries:
Mark Kirk was the ONLY Republican to oppose defunding Planned Parenthood. In a craven attempt to try and gain a few votes, Kirk obviously believes that there is nothing more important on the planet than his re-election, even if it comes at the cost of a few hundred thousand more dead babies.
And if Kirk actually thinks that because of his pathetic effort to cully favor with the pro-death mob, anyone who supports PP is now going to vote for him, as opposed to a Democrat, then Kirk is obviously suffering from the effects of his stroke, and should NOT be running again.
Having a Democrat in his seat won’t change a thing.
So, if Mitch must never be elected again, then there is no possible reason to support Kirk.
And by the way, two of the vice chairs of the NRSC are [mc_name name=’Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’E000295′ ], who introduced and managed the bill to defund PP, and [mc_name name=’Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’C001095′ ], a stalwart defender of the unborn.
If it’s really time to end business as usual in DC, then this is the place to start . The GOP faces many tough contests next year to hold the Senate. We shouldn’t be wasting one cent on Kirk.
From Bill S’s diary:
“[mc_name name=’Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’M000355′ ] (R-KY) 58% must never be re-elected to office. I do not care if it’s a primary, where we most certainly must not support him, or the general election. I will donate to his opponent, no matter whether the primary or the general. I would rather see a pro-death, anti-gun, zombie-infected, flamboyant cross-dressing, virgin-eating cannibal elected before I see that man ever win another election…for U.S. Senate or any other office. I will do anything and everything in my power to see him out of Senate leadership and in 5.5 years, out of office completely. This is my life’s mission – to see him defeated.”
If it is indeed time, as Bill S writes so eloquently, to defeat Mitch, then let us first send [mc_name name=’Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’K000360′ ] packing. And send a message.
For Ernst and Cotton to authorize any money and support for Kirk’s re-election campaign would be the rankest sort of hypocrisy. It’s time, as Joni put it, to “make the pigs squeal.”
Note: Hopefully, nobody at RS gives anything to the NRSC. Instead, contribute directly to the conservative candidates that you support. However, the NRSC does raise a lot of money, and we can hopefully exert pressure as to how that money is allocated. For many, what happened in Mississippi was the last straw..our “never again” moment.
