CNBC GOP Debate ... A Layman's Perspective

While it is fresh in my mind, I want to rank from a layman’s perspective how I feel they did.  If I were ranking them in order, I would go: Rubio, Christie, Fiorina, Kasich, Trump, Cruz, Bush, Huckabee, Carson and Paul.  There were some surprises for me.

I felt that Christie did a much, much better job than he had in the past.  He was on point, spoke to the camera and gave some good answers.  Rubio felt presidential and did a great job handling questions about his own life.  Fiorina was very mature, intelligent and stuck to her talking points throughout.  Kasich came out swinging and if I did not know anything else about him, came across as a staunch conservative.  Trump was all over the place, giving good and bad answers.

Cruz I very much like, but he just comes across to me as being better as a Senator.  I mean no offense to anyone, but he just doesn’t excel at coming across as natural as Rubio.  Bush fell flat in so many ways.  Huckabee was more passionate, but he reminds me of Gingrich and Santorum in 2012.  He is there, but I don’t know why.  Carson came across to me as being out of his league and not prepared to go and run a country.  He is smart and nice, but he scares me at times.  That is just my reaction as compared to others.  Paul, like Cruz, to me should remain in the Senate and fight the good fight.  He really performed least memorably in my mind about the Presidency and came across much stronger in terms of the Senate.

Of course, that’s just my opinion.  I could be wrong.
