Call it a contested convention, not a brokered convention

Peggy Noonan can be hit or miss with her writings, but on this item she’s got it exactly right:

I keep thinking of what a sage old pol, a veteran former GOP governor, said two weeks ago. He turned to me in conversation and said, “By the way, don’t call it a brokered convention. That’s what the media and the Democrats will call it because it implies there are brokers. Call it a contested convention because that’s what it will be, contested.”

I agree completely, and I’d like to see the term ‘brokered convention’ retired in favor of ‘contested convention’, because the unnamed former governor is right on with his analysis.

Who’s with me?
