What the racist beating of a white teenager can teach us all.

This diary will not go where you expect me to take it.

Not hardly.

White Teen Beaten And Tortured For Being White By Two Adults With ‘Interesting’ ID’s.

A report from KOMO News, Channel 4 in Seattle.

Pair charged with hate crime in beating of West Seattle teen.

Ahmed Y. Mohamed, 22, who is black, and Jonathan Neil Baquiring, 21, who is Asian, have each been charged with first-degree robbery and malicious harassment, the state’s hate crime statute.

That obvious and implied profiling to both suspects as Muslims appears as a complete and total coincidence in this instance.  At least I think it is.  This case seems to be simple hate and racism on an ‘American’ level.

The victim, 16-year-old Shane McClellan, said he was held hostage and beaten for hours and was attacked because he is white.

OK, the kid is 16, he was alone on the street at 2am and ended up in a circumstance he maybe – that’s a big maybe on this – he maybe could have avoided. My opinion – and that’s all this next statement is — Just from the gut feeling I get, these two ‘adults with the interesting ID’s’ would have gone after him anyway.

According to charging documents, Shane told investigators that the men said “the white man has kept us down,” during the beating. One of the men held a gun against the back of his head and burned his neck with cigarettes, Shane said.

What I’m on about in this diary is twofold, but taken as one could save your life, the lives of others and help save our nation…….. Really.

Situational Awareness in concert with Self Defense.

Do you know what that entails ?  It’s much more than just looking at your surroundings and being able to react accordingly.

Situational awareness encompasses the ability – through your own instincts and training (yes, real training) – to avoid physically dangerous scenarios when at all possible and if not possible, to go on an offensive posture, even when in an outnumbered and maybe out-weaponized situation.

I don’t expect a teenager to get over on two adults, one with a firearm – meaning the kid takes them on and walks away none the worse for wear.  That’s not my point on this diary.

My point on this diary is to put the seed in your mind to wake up to a higher level, because my instincts are screaming at me that this kind of incident in Seattle is going to escalate – nationwide – and it will do so at the most inopportune moments in time……… As we get close to November 2nd ; As Card Check legislation comes forward ; If a ‘man-caused disaster’ occurs ; When attending a scheduled and promoted tea party event……… I think you understand what I mean.

I’m also not saying you need to arm yourself with a gun.  Seriously.  If you don’t want one, don’t get one.

Look, it’s easy to get a firearm if you’re not a felon. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know……. It’s easier to get a gun if you are.

But the most important aspects of self defense are to be fully aware of your surroundings, have good solid and ongoing training behind you, maybe even a carry permit if you want a firearm and then go forth into the world shall we say a bit more prepared.

This diary is also NOT going to go into 2A stuff, because we’d be here all day and night.  Note aside from the diary topic:  For those of you who are already firearm owners, or will become one amongst the many, always always ALWAYS be on-point with firearm safety.  Please.  There’s nothing more important in ownership than absolute responsibility.

Now that you hopefully are starting to see why I wrote this diary, I need to say something that, unless you’ve had to do so, you won’t truly understand – but you need to consider it in a big way:

Have you ever thought about what it is to need to defend yourself and/or use a weapon of any kind in a real-life situation and the aftermath ?

I mean it….. Do you really ‘get it’ when it comes to ‘what’s next’ after you’ve had to defend yourself and you’re the one still standing ?

Forget any legal aspect and associated complications.  That’s not what I mean either.

Many states have Castle Doctrines or sane laws and regulations to handle that.  The states that don’t and you live in one of them ?…… Y’all need to seriously get some pressure on legislation, or pack up and move to a place that let’s it’s citizens protect themselves, family and property, then tell your old state why you left.

What I’m talking about regarding Self Defense and Situational Awareness is on a personal level…… Looking at yourself in the mirror time.  Knowing what may happen will stay with you forever.  Yes, it was you or them, but you still had to……..

I can’t put it into words more than that without getting all dark and specific, so I’ll go for a bit of my usual snark to make the point of this entire diary………..

You find yourself in a real-life scenario where you need a gun, a knife, an object laying around like a chair, or something else – anything else as a measure of defense/offense – even on a level of the ultimate self defense video ever produced: Monty Python’s ‘What to do when being attacked by a man armed with a banana.’

Knowing what’s involved, can you do it ?

Think about it……. Don’t just go with a reaction answer.

Think about everything, because if/when it happens to you, you won’t have time to think, but you will have time after to react.  The rest of your life.

There’s a difference between acting and reacting – a big difference.

I’m simply now asking those of you who don’t have the ability to defend yourself physically and mentally to get there to even a small degree…… and understand fully what it means.

We’re entering a seriously dangerous time in our lives and our nation’s history, that will – not can – will have instant and generational repercussions to individual rights, liberties and freedom overall.

YOU have the opportunity, in what is still the greatest nation on Earth to help keep it that way for all of us and those who will inherit the future.

Thanks for your time.
