Over the Weekend
Terror in New YorkDon’t be surprised if it was a “lone wolf” who tried to blow up a Nissan Pathfinder in Times Square. We don’t know who did it. It may take us a while. At least it is a reminder that we are not as safe as some would have us believe. The Greater EnemyMeanwhile, the Obama administration says it intends to keep “a boot on the neck” of British Petroleum to do what it is already required by law to do. It amazes me that the left was outraged by George Bush’s harsh rhetoric toward our enemies and the Obama administration sounds more angry at corporations giving Americans jobs than our enemies who are trying to kill us.We need to put a boot on the neck of Al Qaeda and Iran. But saying that would make me a neo-con war monger. Say it about a job creating corporation, however, and it is perfectly acceptable. The Australians are learning from us.Rubio’s RamblingsMarco Rubio has said a lot about the Arizona immigration law. A lot of what he said was based on media reports that were wholly exaggerated. He has since clarified. While everyone is wailing and gnashing teeth over him allegedly being a closet amnesty supporter, did anyone hear him attack the Democrats’ immigration proposal because it actually does support amnesty?Oh, and he also said were he in the Arizona legislature he would have voted for the immigration law. How many of you have paid attention to that?Bailing Out GreeceWe bailed out Greece over the weekend. Consider this: Jim DeMint led a near one man effort to block us funding the IMF for stuff like this. Nobody listened. Maybe people will start listening to Jim DeMint. We may see signs of that in Indiana tomorrow if Marlin Stutzman gets the GOP nomination. We HEART North KoreaWell, we don’t, but the United Nations does. Apparently praising Cuba’s health system is now passé. The cool kids these days praise North Korea’s health system.Keep an eye on Kentucky todayThe good Lord giveth and the good Lord taketh away. And on HawaiiCharles Djou is the Republican running in a Democrat leaning district in Barack Obama’s home state. Djou is in the lead. A Republican winning in Hawaii would be a very big deal. And he’ll be on RedState later today for a live chat. You can ask him questions if you like. The rest of the weekThere’s an election in Indiana. We’ll get to that in a minute. The media is going to be consumed with two topics this week: (1) the oil spill and (2) the car bomb. Look for the Democrats to try to quietly advance socialism further this week while the media is distracted. Now back to
I get flack, a lot of flack, for this from Republicans, from friends, from colleagues — but the fight for freedom is too important to not sometimes say, “Hey, I found this candidate and we should support him even though there are other people running.” Part of my job, and I’m not sure how I fell into it, but part of my job is to catapult good men and women into the arena to fight for freedom. And I’ve done that with my friend Marlin Stutzman like I did with my friend Marco Rubio — neither were high in polls when I picked them and now Marco has won his primary by default and Marlin has victory within reach. Marlin is pro-life. He’s pro-second amendment. He’s for small businesses and families. He has the potential to be in the arena a lot longer than those he is running against and his record compared to theirs shows me that he is consistently right on our issues and will fight unapologetically — not cave or fold or waver or bend or yield when the winds from Washington blow a different way. The other candidates say that too, but they all have records and I’ve studied them. Marlin is the best. Marlin is most likely to stand with conservatives even when that means standing up to Republican leaders. In 24 hours, we have the opportunity to raise up a new conservative leader. We have the opportunity to raise up one of those guys we always say we want to run for office and who did run for office. Let’s not now turn our back on Marlin because I assure you he will not turn his back on us.Have you done all you could? Will you do all you can? Freedom means you take chances. Freedom means you fight. Let’s send Jim DeMint some reinforcements. Let’s send Jim DeMint Marlin Stutzman. Please click here for the rest of the post.
Rasmussen released two new polls today. The Illinois and Delaware Senate races would seem to have little in common, but they do share a common element: they are being held for the seats vacated by Barack Obama and Joe Biden after their victory in November 2008.Are voters inclined to send more Democrats to the Senate to work with them? The polls suggest the answer is “no.”Please click here for the rest of the post.
… And many Wall Street “fat cats“ want this bill passed ASAP.The Senate is in the process of debating and considering amendments to S.3217, Restoring American Financial Stability Act of 2010. As the debate proceeds, it is important to note that the populist rage exhibited toward “fat cats” on Wall Street is merely theater. Goldman Sachs, a Wall Street firm accused of fraud and the subject of a high profile Senate hearing last week, supports this bill because it may benefit some of Wall Streets biggest firms.President Obama on April 22nd went to Wall Street and pitched his plan . . .Please click here for the rest of the post.
No, really: check out the job description.”Email campaigners are responsible for planning, writing, and executing grassroots campaigns to advance the President’s agenda for change.”Back in December when Ben Smith reported on this the first time, the DNC’s response was “Your in-box isn’t going to fill itself.” Which is a very unintentionally revealing statement, given that it essentially concedes that the DNC assumes that there’s no such thing as a spontaneous popular movement. I read this article in The Telegraph the other day about a 22 week old fetus, an unborn baby, who survived an abortion attempt and lived for two days; unattended to, abandoned and left to die. Alone. After I stopped weeping and saying a prayer for that innocent life lost, a couple of other things struck me in the article. Please click here for the rest of the post.
