1. Nancy Pelosi Is Bats

If there was ever any doubt that Nancy Pelosi is officially America’s Crazy Aunt, that doubt was eradicated today. In her weekly press briefing some sycophantic reporter lobbed the set up question that seems to be part of the White House’s “hit back” strategy (to make this less ralph-inducing I’d suggest you read it aloud and insert the appropriate lip smacking and slurping noises):

Madam Speaker, in terms of the political tone, the tone of the debate, Hoyer said earlier this week he thought it was the most vitriolic since ’93-’94. And around that time we also saw acts of domestic violence, domestic terrorism. How concerned are you about the tone of the political debate, in terms of people talking about anti-government rhetoric and so on and the possibility of violence?

2. House of Representatives Votes to Take Over All Student Loans

If you want an indication of just how radical the Democrats in Congress have become, consider the vote on H.R. 3221. The legislation, which I wrote about yesterday, shuts down all private lenders for higher education student loans, requires that colleges and universities adhere to a new federal bureaucracy, creates a new Green Schools Czar, and hints that any school not complying will see its students denied federal student loans.Last year, Congress passed the Ensuring Continued Access to Student Loans Act (ECASLA). The bill passed in the House 388-21, including 221-0 among Democrats. The Senate passed it by unanimous consent. President Bush signed it. The legislation was a bi-partisan piece of legislation that allowed private sector involvement in student loans without a new federal bureaucracy. This year, the Republican substitute to HR 3221 would extend ECASLA programs through 2014 and create a commission to develop a new private sector model for student lending. The amendment failed 165-265. 257 Democrats unanimously voted no.Final passage of HR 3221 was 253-171. 4 Democrats voted no, 6 Republicans vote aye.The Democrats have now rejected the same legislation they unanimously supported last year in favor of a new, expansive federal bureaucracy. Please click here for the rest of the post.

3. The Bob Bennett Plan to Screw America

Yesterday I told you how Bob Bennett intends to compromise his way into snatching defeat from the jaws of victory on healthcare.Today, I present to you video on point. Please click here for the rest of the post.

4. Gerry Connolly’s Dodge

Yesterday the House of Representatives voted to deny federal funding to ACORN. The vote was stunning and lopsided – with 345 Republicans and Democrats voting to deny taxpayer funds, and just 75 Democrats voting to keep the funds flowing. Almost every Democrat in a swing seat voted to deny funds to the group that has become known for helping to set up teenage prostitution rings. But one who didn’t is Congressman Gerry Connnolly (D-VA), who didn’t make the vote. (He is listed among those ‘not voting’ at the bottom of the roll.)By itself, this is surprising and unfortunate. A constituent wants his or her representative to make every important vote – and this certainly qualifies. But what’s more disturbing is that this was the only vote Connolly missed today. Please click here for the rest of the post.

5. Are you a Democratic legislator in a Republican-leaning seat?

Because if you are, here is an advisory: as of this moment, if the Right catches you or your staff within 100 yards of an ACORN office or worker we will cheerfully crucify you with that organization. And by ‘crucify’ I mean ‘take the metaphorical and rhetorical equivalent of long iron nails and permanently attach you to ACORN with them.”Please click here for the rest of the post.

6. Charlie Crist not buying GOP’s ACORN-ophobia

That headline is not mine. That is from the St. Petersburg Times in Florida. Of course, it is from last year, but it is indicative of Governor Charlie Crist’s problem.Charlie Crist got in bed with ACORN a while back and he’s turned a blind eye to all their shenanigans. Back in 2008, the Republican Party was laying out the evidence of ACORN organized voter fraud in Florida and not only did Charlie Crist do nothing, but he went on the offense against the Republican Party saying they were making a mountain out of a molehill. At the same time in 2008, Charlie Crist partnered with ACORN.Were man-organization marriages legal in Florida, Charlie Crist would be married to ACORN right now, he’s been in bed with them so much. Please click here for the rest of the post.
