Put up or shut up

So are you as hacked off as I am about the NRSC’s Crist endorsement?

Putting it directly, you don’t have any room to complain unless you are willing to open your wallet for Marco Rubio. Even $10.00.

Here’s the deal: the NRSC is probably not going to spend a penny on Crist in the primary. Their endorsement, I think, has much more to do with them choking off money for Marco Rubio.

They say the voters of Florida will not be persuaded one way or the other by the NRSC endorsement. They are right.

But the donors will be. The NRSC endorsement has everything to do with making Rubio not viable by cutting off his access to money.

The only way to really combat the endorsement is to flood Marco Rubio with contributions to make him viable.

If you look at the internals of the polling out there instead of just the superficial polling showing Crist with 54% and Rubio with 18%, you will find that Crist’s voters are not very loyal. His support is a mile wide, but an inch deep.

Rubio, on the other hand, certainly has a long way to go in getting voters on his side, but his base of voters are very loyal.

Likewise, while Crist might be over 50% in polling, if you drill down to just the Republican base, he’s barely hanging on to 50% strength.

So give what you can to Rubio. If you are not willing to give Marco Rubio at least $10.00, you really have no ground to complain about the NRSC’s endorsement of Crist.
