As a follow-up to a previous post on this subject by Neil Stevens, Barack Obama let the cat out of the bag in his commencement speech at Hampton University over the weekend.
HAMPTON, Virginia BIG JOURNALISM — US President Barack Obama lamented Sunday that in the iPad and Xbox era, information had become a diversion that was imposing new strains on democracy, in his latest critique of modern media.
“You’re coming of age in a 24/7 media environment that bombards us with all kinds of content and exposes us to all kinds of arguments, some of which don’t always rank all that high on the truth meter,” Obama said at Hampton University, Virginia.
“With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, — none of which I know how to work — information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation,” Obama said.
He bemoaned the fact that “some of the craziest claims can quickly claim traction,” in the clamor of certain blogs and talk radio outlets.
“All of this is not only putting new pressures on you, it is putting new pressures on our country and on our democracy.”
Obama, […..] warned the world was at a moment of “breathtaking change.”
“We can’t stop these changes… but we can adapt to them,” Obama said, adding that US workers were in a battle with well-educated foreign workers.
Now how does this speech play into the attempt at a totalitarian state by the radicals in this administration? If you have time to read and study then you must learn who these enemies are. We are being distracted by the day to day struggles of life. I don’t see the outrage nor do I see the uproar pointing out this regimes attempt a Chavez style takeover of this nation.
The man (Obama) who couldn’t live without his ‘Blackberry’ and claimed that he has all of Michael Jackson’s songs on his Ipod. Mmm… he must have someone help him use it if he doesn’t know how. I mean he gave the Queen of England one!
I said before Glenn Beck and Andrew Brietbart are all over this day after day. FCC thumbs their nose at the courts
Glenn Beck: Free Speech vs Free Press , Van Jones is on the Board , Net Neutrality , Cass Sunstein
Funny how he had no laser-like job focus to enunciate to these soon to be additions to the unemployment roles (unless they get government jobs).
It sounds to me that he just doesn’t want people to be able to find out all of the lies he and his administration spews on a daily basis.
