RedState's Water Cooler - Open Thread - August 20, 2018: Michelle Wolf's Show Cancelled, Chelsea Claims Economic Benefits of Roe V. Wade and More

Comedian Michelle Wolf’s Netflix Show is Cancelled Just Months After its Debut

This sure won’t break too many conservative hearts.

Chelsea Clinton Explains The Economic Benefits of Roe V. Wade

Chelsea Clinton, speaking at a Planned Parenthood event called “Rise Up for Roe,” said that Roe V. Wade has been good for the economy. She explained:

American women entering the labor force from 1973 to 2009 added three and a half trillion dollars to our economy. Right? The net, new entrance of women – that is not disconnected from the fact that Roe became the law of the land in January of 1973.”

Hey Chelsea, what about the unrealized loss of productivity because of those aborted babies?

Bill Clinton once said abortion should be “safe, legal and rare.” He forgot to tell us how it spurs the economy.

Cynthia Nixon Embraces Democratic Socialism

Democratic Socialist New York gubernatorial candidate, Cynthia Nixon, continues to lag behind Andrew Cuomo by a whopping 33.5% (RCP average) spread.

At a recent Netroots Nation convention, former Sex and the City actress and current New York gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon taunted her audience. “Ooooh socialism. The establishment is terrified of that word.” (Wild applause) But she’s just so totally cool with it. “If being a Democratic Socialist means believing that health care and housing and education should be a human right, then I’m a Democratic Socialist.”

Missouri’s Democratic Party Platform Flip-Flop

Missouri’s Democratic Party amended their platform in June to include pro-lifers.

“We respect the conscience of each Missourian and recognize that members of our party have deeply held and sometimes differing positions on issues of personal conscience, such as abortion. We recognize the diversity of views as a source of strength, and welcome into our ranks all Missourians who may hold differing positions on this issue.”

Apparently, that step was too radical for them. After thinking about it, they decided to reverse it. Yes, they really did.

Argument of the Week

An argument on a Plymouth, MA golf course on Friday turned physical last week when one man bit off another golfer’s thumb up to his knuckle 😱 ! The biter was charged with “mayhem.” In Massachusetts, a charge of mayhem means the “malicious intent to maim or disfigure.” The charge carries up to 20 years in prison.

Stupidest Statement of the Week

CNN Political Commentator Symone Sanders discussing John Brennan’s security clearance being revoked:

“Trump sent Sarah Sanders to poop on the people from the Press Secretary Podium.”

Classy lady.

Quote of the Week

I sometimes say that in my last life maybe I was Chinese.”  Sen. Dianne Feinstein

The Federalist’s Ben Weingarten has written a detailed piece entitled “Dianne Feinstein’s Ties to China Go Way Deeper Than An Alleged Office Spy.”  His message is that “her warm relationship with and advocacy for Communist China go back decades and involve millions, if not billions, of dollars.” A fascinating, but lengthy, read.

As Always, This Is An Open Thread.
