Local LEOs suggest it best NOT to trick or treat as a clown this year

Remember John Wayne Gacy from the mid-70s? He was a licensed clown and serial murderer who buried 35 victims in the crawl space under his house? Anyway, he was very creepy and a clear case for the death penalty if ever there was one. I digress.

This year, though, there is a slew of present day creepy clowns sweeping the countryand, the UK apparently. What is wrong with people? I mean, seriously! What is wrong with people?! Sightings reported to police have been of knife-wielding clowns, and at- forest’s edge clowns, sprinting clowns and walking-around-town-creeping-people-out clowns.

It’s a real problem for the average Joe Clown who just wants to make balloon animal weiner dogs and cycle on his tiny bike and wear a big red nose. Even “It” author Stephen King tweeted a plea to cut it out already: “Hey, guys, time to cool the clown hysteria, most of em are good, cheer up the kiddies, make people laugh.”

Yet, the award for Epic Smackdown to the would-be jokester clown goes to the Paw Paw, West Virginia police chief.

“If someone sees you dressed like this they have the right to defend themselves,” the posters said. “It is not normal for clowns to be running around like idiots all year long. I will stand behind anyone who feels they need to protect themselves from these so-called clowns. So, to sum it all up, if you run around in a clown suit, you should probably expect for citizens to beat you (for their own protection), then get arrested by police.”

Mic drop.

Below the Fold

  • Antonio Guterres will succeed Ban Ki-moon as United Nations’ Secretary General – Guterres, the former Prime Minister of Portugal, is a longstanding member of the Socialist Party. He also served as UN’s High Commissioner for Refugees until December 2015; he is one of 95 members of the Club of Madrid which “promotes democracy,” however it is more of a Socialist’s Only club; and, he is a Board member of Friends of Europe who claims no political or state partisanship but, is partially funded by the EU. Notable is Guterres’ leadership role at the UN’s refugee organization “precisely when the refugee crisis began to spiral out of control.” But, you decide. He received thirteen “encourage” votes which included Russia, China, and Obama (representing himself, of course, not the US).
  • Technology in the age of “Gun Control” – NIBIN is a national database created to combine individual FBI and ATF ballistics records into one system. For the database to be relevant across all policing agencies, IBIS equipment – $150,000 a pop – has to be installed at all policing agencies. It’s not. Two primary reasons it’s not are the cost of equipment, for which the departments are expected to foot the bill and, manpower. To help defray the cost of inputting hundreds of thousands of rounds per year, they are now allowed to outsource that job. But, even with the extra help, there is only time to follow through on the most egregious gun-related crimes. Here is a feasible and potentially robust plan to curb gun violence without an all out gun grab and it is woefully underfunded and, poorly implemented.

Today in History

1986: Syrian Intelligence supplied Jordanian to blow up Jewish airliner. “A Jordanian went on trial in London on charges of trying to blow up an El Al jumbo jet last April. A prosecutor said the Jordanian, Nezar Hindawi, had told investigators that Syrian intelligence officers had supplied him with a Syrian passport, $12,000, a bag with deadly explosives and detonation training.”

1996: Fox News Channel made its debut. “Fox News chairman Roger Ailes said the format will be comparable to the hard news lineup of CNN, the father of cable news, with less emphasis on the opinion-show format that CNN relies on at night.”

2006: Anna Politkovskaya, A journalist who had chronicled Russian military abuses against civilians in Chechnya, was found shot to death in Moscow. “Anna Politkovskaya, 48, was shot in the chest as she was getting out of an elevator, then shot in the head, the Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported citing investigative sources.”
