Fearsome Obama toadie Tim Kaine, VA governor and Veep hopeful, reminds us how this world works, now that The One has been revealed.
It was a bad crisis for the world. It required tough words but also a smart approach to call on the international community to step in. And I’m very, very happy that the Senator’s request for a ceasefire has been complied with by President Medvedev.
Well, I’m glad we got THAT all cleared up.
Now it’s really not fair to trouble a vacationing guy with important and dicey world crises. Trust him, he’ll be ready for that “3AM phone call”. And my goodness, can’t a guy just eat his pancakes, for crying out loud?
But nevertheless, Golfing Statesman Obama is hitting them long down the fairway, with gems (quoth CNN) like :
Let me be clear: We seek a future of cooperative engagement with the Russian government, and friendship with the Russian people. We want Russia to play its rightful role as a great nation — but with that role comes the responsibility to act as a force for progress in this new century, not regression to the conflicts of the past.
I strongly condemn the outbreak of violence in Georgia, and urge an immediate end to armed conflict. Now is the time for Georgia and Russia to show restraint, and to avoid an escalation to full scale war. Georgia’s territorial integrity must be respected. All sides should enter into direct talks on behalf of stability in Georgia, and the United States, the United Nations Security Council, and the international community should fully support a peaceful resolution to this crisis.
Atta boy, Barack! Yes, while the Macho Bambi’s best effort is “I condemn this violence”, and “you boys should just get along”.
Meanwhile, in the land of Not-Obama, McCain is taking the birch strap to gangster Russia:
Russian President Medvedev and Prime Minister Putin must understand the severe, long-term negative consequences that their government’s actions will have for Russia’s relationship with the U.S. and Europe.
Russia should immediately and unconditionally cease its military operations and withdraw all forces from sovereign Georgian territory.
Direct. Serious. Threatening. “Knock it off or you are going to GET it.”
These words in addition from the same CNN link:”McCain is known for his pointed words toward Putin. He’s told audiences that when he looks into Putin’s eyes he “sees three letters: KGB,” referring to the former Soviet spy agency.”
“McCain has talked about creating a new G-8, the group of the richest countries in the world, that would expel Russia. “
The contrast could not be more clear. Child. Adult. You pick.
