It’s all about accountability

Just a day after this country celebrated those who served their country in the military, the headlines splashed across nearly every news outlet are about how offended people are by the application of the very rights these brave men and women fought to defend. How is it that this country has evolved from one that held honor, truthfulness and commitment in high regard to one which grants bully pulpit status to anyone who is offended by the slightest affront to their sensitivity? We allow these people to spout off with the vilest of accusations, half-truths and outright lies with no expectation of the requirement that they actually produce evidence to support them. We live in a world turned upside down. Students are now allowed to demean abuse or otherwise mistreat their teachers and administrators without fear of retribution. If action is taken, the parents of said miscreant are first in line to call into question the qualifications of the teacher/administrator to act as an overseer of their children during the school day. No one, however, is allowed to question whether some of the fault might actually lie with the parents themselves. Venomous bile has been spewed in the direction of anyone who has had the audacity to suggest that the parents should actually take part in the correction of their children.

Johnathan Bultler who is a University of Missouri graduate transmitted this demand to school officials, (grammatical errors are that of the college graduate, not mine):

We demand that the University Of Missouri System President, Tim Wolfe, writes a handwritten apology to the Concerned Student 1-9-5-0 demonstrators and holds a press conference in the Mizzou Student Center reading the letter. In the letter and at the press conference, Tim Wolfe must acknowledge his white male privilege, recognize that systems of oppression exist, and provide a verbal commitment to fulfilling Concerned Student 1-9-5-0 demands. We want Tim Wolfe to admit to his gross negligence, allowing his driver to hit one of the demonstrators, consenting to the physical violence of bystanders, and lastly refusing to intervene when Columbia Police Department used excessive force with demonstrators.”

Butler has made several statements decrying the so-called “white privilege” of the college president and chancellor and aided in forcing their resignation. Never mind the fact that the poor fellow has led what many would term a privileged life and comes from a family worth millions. Suffice to say that this little fact was overlooked by the greater part of the mainstream media while the row was ongoing, the race baiting was simply too juicy a morsel to resist until it was too late.

Where is the outrage when scurrilous accusations are proven false? Who is held accountable for the lives that are ruined? Too often, the false accusations are shielded by the torchbearers of the First Amendment not because they care deeply about the founding principles of this country but rather, because it furthers their agenda. They are willing participle of the foundational change described by then candidate Barack Obama utilizing the Clowerd-Piven modality of radical change. Gone are the days of personal responsibility when what issued out of our mouths actually mattered. This shining example of modern day sensibility should be prosecuted and jailed for ruining the lives and professional reputations of two men by spreading defamatory lies and insinuating that their actions somehow equated to prejudicial behavior. In the end however, I’m sure the poor soul will be given a pass due to the amount of melanin contained in his skin.

Truly the inmates are now running the asylum.
