Lasting Change

Everyone in what I will call the “freedom movement” (conservatives, libertarians, tea party patriots, etc.) seems to be focused on the state and national elections this November like a laser beam.  This is understandable given that we need to win and win BIG in order to halt the lurch toward outright socialism.  We should not, however, lose sight of the fact that in order to affect lasting change in our country, we need to do a much better job in educating our children with regard to our Constitution, founding principles, freedom, capitalism, etc.  Abraham Lincoln is credited with once having stated that “[t]he philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next.”  The progressives recognized this a long time ago and consequently have done and continue to do everything that they can to take control over and influence the education of American children in order to advance their progressively socialist agenda.  In order to counter this and turn back to freedom, we must not only educate our own children in our homes, but we must take back the educational establishment, especially at the elementary and secondary levels.  We need to be recruiting and supporting candidates for local and state school boards who support freedom and our Constitution.  Only when our schools are teaching our Constitution, founding principles, freedom, capitalism, etc. will we have lasting change in this country.  I would encourage those that care about what our children are being taught to run for their local school boards.  While state and national elections are important in the short term, very little is more important than education in the long term.
