About That Obama "Endorsement"

In what was a case of the obvious, Barack Obama belatedly “endorsed” Joe Biden’s candidacy.  The endorsement was, to say the least, less than enthusiastic and illustrates the hollowness of Obama.

According to CNN, which is so embedded in the Democrat Party that this is one area where they usually report facts, the video endorsement was recorded in advance and released on Tuesday the 14th.  In it, Obama managed to summon his gift for rhetoric to take us on a trip down memory lane.  It was a nostalgia ride into the eight years of the Obama administration with Joe as an afterthought.

Think about this line that sticks out in the endorsement: Obama said Biden would “surround himself with good people – experts, scientists, military officials, who actually know how to run the government.”  This was intended as a slight against Trump who the media and Democrats have tried to portray as personally incompetent, or who has surrounded himself with incompetent underlings.  But, it can also be read to infer that Biden is well past his prime and would be a figurehead of a president at best.  A good case could be made that Obama was also a figurehead president with Biden charged with making sure not too much “hope and change” did not occur.  Such would have upset the applecart of the DNC and Democrats portraying themselves as the champions of the downtrodden.  When there are no more “downtrodden,” the DNC loses their base and become less the toast of coastal elites.

Consider also that Biden announced his candidacy on April 25th, 2019.  It took Obama just slightly less than a year to endorse his former VP.  According to CNN, again a somewhat reliable source when it comes to Democrats, the video was recorded on April 13th and released the following day.  What else happened on the 13th?  That was the day Bernie Sanders appeared on Joe Biden’s little-watched online livestream to make a big show of bowing before Biden on bended knee and endorsing Biden because another four years of the Big Bad Orange Man was just too much to fathom.  Never mind the fact Sanders looked like he was chewing on a lemon at the time, but at least he appeared “live” alongside Biden.  The two septuagenarians managed to stay on script.

Obama could not muster the spontaneity to do the same.  In fact, the Obama endorsement seemed more like a childish passive-aggressive display of temper with the veiled potshots against Trump and Fox News that Obama would not call out by name.

Further, it makes Obama a hypocrite.  In that endorsement, Obama insinuated a more progressive America with Biden at the helm.  But as we are reminded by the Obama sycophants, Obama was in power for eight years.  What did Obama accomplish towards those ends?  Is it any wonder that Sanders generated more enthusiasm and energy among the Democrat base since he was proposing what Obama failed to deliver?

If Obama really cared about a fair, prosperous, green, social justice America, he would have endorsed Sanders long ago.  Instead, Obama allegedly remained active “behind the scenes” steering the nomination in Biden’s favor to the detriment of Sanders.  It is also reported that Obama originally tried to talk Biden out of a run for president and talked to the DNC about keeping the gaffe king under control.  This was less an endorsement of Biden and more an endorsement of the DNC.

According to Obama, democracy dies in the darkness, or something like that.  But if an endorsement of Biden is an endorsement of the Obama administration, then the policies of those eight years is fair game.  It can start with putting Hillary Clinton in charge of a debacle of foreign policy for four years.  It could include that sneering “you didn’t build that” comment directed at someone who actually did build it.  It could be the fact that Obama’s idea of democracy was ruling by pen and phone and signing Executive Orders to achieve what he could not achieve otherwise.  To question any of that with respect to Biden would be racist since the color of Obama’s skin was more important than his character.

Most importantly, remember that Obama gave to Biden the same type of endorsement he gave to Clinton in 2016.  Obama would have one believe a vote for Obama is a vote for the Obama legacy.  This so inspired Democrats that they stayed home or voted for Trump.  It caught the DNC, Clinton and the media so off-guard, they spent the better part of four years blaming Russia.

The same people who claim you cannot turn back the clock in the name of progress are saying to do just that by declaring Biden a return to Obama.  The uncomfortable truth for the Democrats is that is exactly how Trump got elected in the first place.  There could be only one Democrat messiah.
