With so much going on the political world over a a tweet by the President, some other stories may have gotten lost in the mix. Here are seven that may or may not have been covered here.
About That Tweet
If you say it enough times, people may actually start to believe it, or just tune it out. And so it is with the two networks, CNN and MSNBC. According to one media watchdog, not counting chyron references, CNN referred to Trump as being “racist” 636 times in one 48 hour period after the infamous tweet. MSNBC did the same 471 times in the same time period.
Facebook Bans St. Augustine
Let us never assume that if we live good lives we will be without sin; our lives should be praised only when we continue to beg for pardon. But men are hopeless creatures, and the less they concentrate on their own sins, the more interested they become in the sins of others. They seek to criticize, not to correct. Unable to excuse themselves, they are ready to accuse others.
To the rational reader, these sound like words of tolerance from St. Augustine, a very early Christian theologian. However, posting these words on Facebook by Domenico Bettinelli got him in hot water. The quote was taken down by the Thought Police at Facebook after they determined it was “hate speech.” He also received a stern warning that if it was reposted, or something similar, he would be forever banned from Facebook. Up next as hate speech: the words of Jesus Christ?
Megan Rapinoe Be Warned
Laurel Hubbard recently won two weightlifting gold medals at a recent competition in the women’s category. The New Zealand athlete had a total lift of 268 kg in their category. The only problem is Laurel Hubbard is actually a male who is transgender and thus thinks they are a woman, as does apparently the weightlifting federation that sanctioned this event. We have already seen dudes posing as women winning awards in track and wrestling. So, Megan Rapinoe be warned. There is some male out there looking to take your place on the women’s soccer team. The big unanswered question: How much do they get paid?
What Passes as a Researcher
MediaMatters is a leftist organization that believes Fox News is the devil incarnate. One of their senior researchers is Andrew Lawrence who recently decided to show his ignorance by wading into the gun control debate. Tweeted this researcher, he asserted that the popular AR-15 was an assault rifle by insisting, even when corrected, that the “AR” stands for “assault rifle.” For the uninitiated, it stands for “ArmaLite rifle.” Seriously… I have liberal friends who believe the same thing. They seem genuinely perplexed when corrected.
Thou Shalt Be Forced to Believe
The Bethel Christian Academy in Maryland is a small school that serves 280 low-income students. They are (were) eligible under the state’s school voucher program, that is until Maryland bureaucrats read their handbook. It seems this Christian school stresses the Biblical beliefs about marriage and sexuality and that is when things turned south. It was determined that not only were they banned from the voucher program, but now they must repay over $100,000 received thus far.
Berkeley: Proving They Are the Most Insane City in America
By a unanimous vote of the city council, Berkeley, California became the first city in America to ban the use of natural gas in new low-rise buildings starting January 1, 2020. That’s right: a cheap, efficient and low-carbon source of heating and cooking will be phased out and to show they mean it, the city even created a new position to implement the plan. That position will pay $271,000.
Yet Another Sign of the Impending Apocalypse
When actor Daniel Craig announced that he was retiring from the ultimate oppressive, male patriarchal role as James Bond, agent 007, some suggested either a “person of color” or a woman assume the role. Well, they covered all bases and the new 007 will be Lashana Lynch, a black female British actress. Ian Fleming’s iconic spy character gets a totally woke treatment in the 25th treatment on the silver screen.
