And the WI Governor's race just keeps getting better and better: Mary Burke was FIRED from Trek!

Pretty much everyone here knows who Scott Walker is, and what he’s gotten done since 2010….

From cutting public unions down to size, to being the first Governor to survive a recall, to voter ID, WI has finally started moving in the right direction…

The flip-side of this, of course, is that the labor movement (primarily) and liberal groups hate his guts… From turning the state capitol into a circus, to bankrolling an unfounded (and fortunately unsuccessful) recall campaign, to 2 completely bogus ‘investigations’ (read: witch-hunts), he’s been under attack by the left since he set foot in office….

Against all that, the person the Democrats picked to challenge him, is an otherwise-unknown named Mary Burke. Now, you’d think that such a strongly-conservative Governor in a ‘blue-to-purple’ state would have hordes of Dems trying to run against him… But Burke is the best they came up with…

Burke’s main qualifications for office, it seems, are that no one knew who she was and that the teacher’s union loves her. Democrats presumed that she would be a ‘squeaky clean’ candidate who could coast into office simply because she was ‘Not Walker’… Of course, Democrats also assumed that making the CO Senate race about abortion was a winner, and we are seeing how that turned out…

In this case (fortunately for us)  – like most ‘I-not-the-other-guy’ candidates, Burke has turned out to be an awful candidate.

You see, what the Democrats overlooked, was that when you nominate someone you need to actually pay attention to their history. The fact that no one knew who she was – which it seems is what they were counting on to protect her – doesn’t last when you run for Governor. It also seems that they presumed that the most likely attacks on Burke would be from the left (attacking her for being a rich heiress) could be deflected as hypocrisy, or rolled into the now-tired ‘war on women’ meme…

The problem?

There’s actually something to criticisim of Burke’s career/personal life.

It’s not that she’s rich… That’s not where things go off the rails…

It’s that she fits – to a T – the ‘Paris Hilton’ stereotype: A kid who inherited money, doesn’t have an original thought in her head, and thinks she can buy the world (like she bought herself a school board seat, and apparently thought she could buy the Governorship)…

You see, Mary ‘Paris’ Burke has been only intermittently employed…

As she likes to highlight on her campaign speeches, she’s worked for the state Commerce Dept, done 2 stints at her family’s business (Trek Bike), and now holds a school board seat…

For most of us, we can remember having to fill out job-applications asking us to account for ‘any unemployment longer than 90 days’… Apparently the Democrats failed to do this, and Burke’s resume is full of holes…

This should have been warming sign #1 for them – they (fortunately) blew right by it…

As the campaign went on, it became known that some of Burke’s ‘resume holes’ were filled with snowboarding and ski-bumming around the world…

When asked about why she left an executive-level job at Trek after a few years (a job, that for all appearances, she got by pure nepotisim), she claimed that she was ‘burnt out’….

Any questions about what Burke did there go unanswered – except for her carefully selected campaign talking-points, which are designed to cast her as a ‘successful businesswoman’ in comparison to her ‘professional politician’ opponent ‘who didn’t even graduate from college’….

Doesn’t sound like someone you’d want to be your governor, does it?

The next ‘stage’, of course, was the plagarisim scandal…
Our elderly Paris Hilton clone decided that the best way to try and win, was to claim that she was an educated ‘leader’ with a ‘jobs plan’ that would save WI from the ‘uneducated, incompetent’ Walker… She started campaigning on this, walking around with a binder that she claimed to have written herself – a product of her much-touted Ivy League MBA & mysteriously detail-free tenure at Trek…

One small problem: It was copied. From other Democrats who LOST their own governor’s races. By a STAFFER.

Oops…

Now, that was about a month or two ago… The race has moved on, with a slight Walker lead or potentially a tie….

And this brings us to the point where Mary’s campaign jumps the shark:

It turns out there’s a reason ‘Paris Hilton’ Burke won’t talk about her time at Trek:

She didn’t leave because she got ‘Burnt Out’ (which is bad enough)! She was FIRED!

Online report: Democratic candidate for governor Mary Burke fired from Trek in 1990s

So here we have it:

A candidate who gets ‘burnt out’ after a few years of private sector work, in a job she got because of who her parents were…

Who’s only been intermittently employed, before getting bored & going off globe-trotting…

Who claims to be an ‘educated leader’ & flaunts her MBA, but can’t be bothered to write her own jobs-plan….

Who seems to view political office like a hobby that she can buy into and play with until she gets bored…

AND who seems to think that she could get away with BSing the people of her state as to the contents of her resume – getting fired from her own family’s company & hiding it from the voters…

Good thing she got caught… Where’s Moe with the DOOM?
