The screeching halt heard from the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee, has reached the White House and the Speaker’s office.

The number two Democrat in the U.S. House, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) said there is no consensus in the U.S. House of Representative’s Democratic caucus over two issues, whether a public plan option should be included and on the financing mechanism to pay for the $1 trillion government take over of the U.S. health care sector.

Hoyer “downplayed the idea of keeping lawmakers in session while negotiations continue, but wouldn’t rule it out.”

The U.S. House Majority Leader, Steny Hoyer (D-MD) most recently stated that the U.S. House may leave for the August recess without a vote on health care reform.
