There is nothing like a man with the courage of his convictions. A man with a set of core beliefs so firmly entrenched in his character that the jaws of life couldn’t pry them loose. Ladies and Gentleman, that man is not President Barack Hussein Obama. Folding like a house of cards in a hurricane, President Obama quickly moved to soften “buy American” language in his $1 trillion stimulus bill because the EU takes exception to it.
Last night Mr Obama gave a strong signal that he would remove the most provocative passages from the Bill.
“I agree that we can’t send a protectionist message,” he said in an interview with Fox TV. “I want to see what kind of language we can work on this issue. I think it would be a mistake, though, at a time when worldwide trade is declining, for us to start sending a message that somehow we’re just looking after ourselves and not concerned with world trade.”
He agrees that “we can’t send a protectionist message”? Really, whose idea was it to put that language in the bill? But that’s not the point. The point is why is the European Union, or any other foreign entity, dictating the content of American law? If Obama’s knees buckle this fast because the Europeans start whining what is he going to do when the Russians, Iranian’s and North Korean’s start making demands?
God help us!
