Have Newt and the boys gotten the message?

I hope the complete boondoggle of NY23rd has taught Newt Gingrich and the republican masterminds of the Dede Scozzafava campaign an important  and priceless lesson. Don’t outsmart yourself, by misreading lost elections, and snubbing your most valuable asset. Your conservative base. If the town hall/tea party attendees didn’t teach you that conservatives are energized and ready for a rumble, then you’ve been stuck in the beltway too long. When you set up a liberal republican that is more democrat than the democrat in a district that is more conservative than most conservatives, you’re inviting a fight from within your own constituency. To suggest that republicans need to support a woman, simple because she has an R behind her name, which we all know stands for rino, without the conservatives putting up a fight, is ludicrous. Remember this, most republicans are republicans because they’re conservatives first, and loyalty to party only extends as far as the party’s loyalty to its core and values. When the party veers because of expediency or stupidity, it’s the responsibility of its base to stand firm and strong so as not to let the head that has got way too top heavy, explode upon impact with the fast rising earth. So, rather than excoriating your solid as a rock base, thank them for refocusing your attention on the principles that won Ronald Reagan two landslide victories…
