Mandatory Vasectomies: Alabama Democrat Tries To Be Clever, Fails Miserably

You know when somebody pulls a stunt and they’re so satisfied with themselves—they think they’ve been so witty at making their point—but in reality they just look like a complete fool?

Well, for a fresh example, look no further than a certain Alabama Democrat.

In the Alabama House, State Representative Rolanda Hollis filed a bill last Thursday that would require all Alabama men to undergo a mandatory vasectomy procedure at their own expense, either after turning 50 years old or after having their third biological child.

Quoting directly from the bill, HB 238:

Synopsis: Under existing law, there are no restrictions on the reproductive rights of men. This bill would require a man to undergo a vasectomy within one month of his 50th birthday or the birth of his third biological child, whichever comes first.

Relating to family planning; to require a man to undergo a vasectomy within one month of his 50th birthday or the birth of his third biological child, whichever comes first.

Section 1. A man, at his own expense, shall undergo a vasectomy within one month of his 50th birthday or the birth of his third biological child, whichever comes first.

On Twitter, Senator Ted Cruz responded to the bill quite appropriately: “Yikes.

Yikes. A government big enough to give you everything is big enough to take everything…literally! Alabama Democrat proposes bill mandating all men have vasectomy at age 50 or after third child. https://t.co/PeaNUg1Joc

We can be fairly confident, I believe, that this bill will never become law.

State Rep. Hollis claims that she introduced the bill in order to “neutralize” the Alabama law enacted last year known as the Human Life Protection Act, which made abortion illegal in virtually all cases. That law has not gone into effect because, as expected, a pro-death Democrat-appointed judge issued a preliminary injunction last October blocking the legislation.

In a statement to AL.com, Hollis said: “The vasectomy bill is to help with the reproductive system, and yes, it is to neutralize the abortion ban bill … it always takes two to tango. … We can’t put all the responsibility on women. Men need to be responsible also.” Supporters additionally declare, obviously in bad faith, that compulsory vasectomies will help prevent unwanted pregnancies, and therefore, abortions. As if they really care about that.

Now, yes, it is absolutely true that it “takes two to tango,” and the men involved in “unwanted pregnancies” are just as reckless and irresponsible as the women. In fact, women are frequently pressured (and sometimes even forced) by their male partners to get an abortion, because they want to flee from the consequences of what they have done.

But the easiest, cheapest way to prevent unwanted pregnancies (not to mention the most moral way, but Democrats wouldn’t know morality if it came and slapped them in the face) is for both the man and woman to not fool around until they’re prepared to take responsibility for what might result. The failure to do this is responsible for 99% of abortions.

Of course, leftist Twitter predictably mocked Senator Cruz’s reaction to Hollis’ bill. You toxic men are going to control women’s bodies? Well, let’s control yours and see how you like it! Hah!

There’s just one problem. Abortions brutally destroy living, innocent human beings. Over a million per year, in fact. And vasectomies, well…they simply do not. In other words, one is murder and the other isn’t.

State Rep. Hollis does seem to have a bit of difficulty in getting along with men. Last year, she was arrested at a Florida hotel on a domestic battery charge against her own husband.

This might not be the person with the most credibility on treating men respectably. Just saying.
