Obama's Freudian Slippery Slope of a Tongue and Prompter.

Everyone does it.  A few Freudian slips here and there.  But the great orator in chief? TOTUS?  Commiting them day in and day out, in speech and writing?  He is an easy tell.

Freud tells us a bit about slips:

In the same way that psycho-analysis makes use of dream interpretation, it also profits by the study of the numerous little slips and mistakes which people make — symptomatic actions, as they are called […] I have pointed out that these phenomena are not accidental, that they require more than physiological explanations, that they have a meaning and can be interpreted, and that one is justified in inferring from them the presence of restrained or repressed intentions and intentions. [Freud, An Autobiographical Study (1925)]

But the common character of the mildest as well as the severest cases, to which the faulty and chance actions contribute, lies in the ability to refer the phenomena to unwelcome, repressed, psychic material, which, though pushed away from consciousness, is nevertheless not robbed of all capacity to express itself.

Slips can be verbal, read, and written.

Obama’s gaffes and Freudian slips are numerous and well documented.

“You’re absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith…”

“If you’ve got a gun in your house, I’m not taking it,’’ Obama said. But the Illinois senator could still see skeptics in the crowd, particularly on the faces of several men at the back of the room.  So he tried again. “Even if I want to take them away, I don’t have the votes in Congress,’’ he said.

But, one wonders how can Obama, (probably the most scripted TOTUS) even commit any?  Freud tells us slips aren’t always just verbal miscues when adlibbing on the fly, but also occur in reading and writing(think TOTUS).  The basic premise Freud says is the conscious mind can’t suppress all repressed thoughts or even intentions in speech, reading and writing.

I’ve noticed in many of his speeches he says “I am not  X.”  “I do not  want to do X.”  “People say I want to do X.”   “It’s not about ME!”  He uses the word “don’t want” many many times.

Reality is if you remove the “not” or change “don’t” into “do”, the statement is generally true about Obama.  It’s an easy tell and repetitive in his speeches and written word.  With his easy tells, he’d probably be the the first poker player to occupy the losers table on poker night.

Let’s take a look at his recent meeting lecture at a GOP retreat.  This is just one speech, riddled with real insights and tells about Obama.

The only thing I don’t want — and here I am listening to the American people, and I think they don’t want either — is for Washington to continue being so Washington-like

Listening? More like lecturing and speaking TO the American people.  What has he done to change business as usual in Washington?

And I’m not a pundit.  I’m just a President, so take it for what it’s worth

Wink, wink, I’m just the Prez.  Look at ME!

But I don’t believe that the American people want us to focus on our job security.  They want us to focus on their job security.  (Applause.)  I don’t think they want more gridlock.  I don’t think they want more partisanship.  I don’t think they want more obstruction.

I’m focusing on my job security, I want more gridlock, I want more partisanship, why do they defy me?

And the notion that I would somehow resist doing something that cost half as much but would produce twice as many jobs — why would I resist that?  I wouldn’t.  I mean, that’s my point, is that — I am not an ideologue.  I’m not.

Wow, project much?  I’m not, I’m not.

Now, you may not agree with Bob Dole and Howard Baker, and, certainly you don’t agree with Tom Daschle on much, but that’s not a radical bunch.  But if you were to listen to the debate and, frankly, how some of you went after this bill, you’d think that this thing was some Bolshevik plot.  No, I mean, that’s how you guys — (applause) — that’s how you guys presented it.

Who said anything about Bolshevik plots?  Obama did.  That’s how he thinks.

I mean, the fact of the matter is, is that many of you, if you voted with the administration on something, are politically vulnerable in your own base, in your own party.  You’ve given yourselves very little room to work in a bipartisan fashion because what you’ve been telling your constituents is, this guy is doing all kinds of crazy stuff that’s going to destroy America.

Obama is vulnerable w/ his party, and has been partisan because he is doing crazy stuff in attempt to destroy America.  Wow, just Wow, this, destroy America talk coming from our own Commander in Chief?  Chilling actually.

That’s just one mostly pre-written speech and well rehearsed talking points.  A slippery slope of the slip of the tongue and prompter.  Once you are aware of his code, it’ll become very obvious in his speeches and interviews.
