I am encouraged by the tea parties showing that Americans are finally starting to take notice of the concentrated power of the federal government, instead of waging the same old party vs. party talking points back and forth.
I believe the real battle and victory will transcend parties and do what is right for America and her citizens.
The success of America lies in the battle of decentralization of power and return much of it back to the states where local knowledge can deliver smarter solutions. Also where we can keep a critical eye and are more empowered to do something to keep our ElectedElite in check.
I see the success of America being 50 competing experiments where the federal government(beyond protecting our borders) spreads the word about good ideas and alerts to the ones that didn’t quite work out. The federal government must be held to being referee and not a major player outside its truly national duties (such as defense), no matter the circumstance.
I hope the Republican party doesn’t continue heading down the path of the left, looking for saviors that will save us from ourselves. Hopefully we are quickly finding out how disastrous that can be.
I have seen this time and time again among conservative discussions, many of them here. “X will save us. No, Y will save us faster!” Whether it’s Jindal, Palin, Gingrich, Fred, Rudy etc….. If we go down that path w/ that mentality, we’ve already lost.
Real positive change(change by itself is neutral, could be good, could be bad!) is from the ground up, not trickle down. We just voted in change, jumping from the frying pan into the fire. That change, I don’t like. I hope we are ready for real POSITIVE change someday soon. We have to roll up our sleeves and do it ourselves.
I have found in business if you don’t demand and expect certain things from your employees(elected reps) you won’t get them. If we are too apathetic to hold our ElectedElite accountable, they won’t be.
It’s time to get busy folks and take our country back.
