If you’ve ever seen Jeff Foxworthy’s Redneck Tour, you’ll recall his famous lines starting with, “You might be a redneck if….”.
In this case, the Democrat Party might be an endangered species if they have to give speaking lessons to those in their Party. No not the kind of speaking tips like how to be a better speaker or command your audience.
More like English as a first language or how to speak to those pesky people in fly-over country. Those people that many in the Democratic Party refer to as bible-thumping and gun-toting scary people.
Democratic members of Congress are learning how to converse with regular people during a retreat this week to prepare to battle President Donald Trump. [snip]
Sen. Joe Manchin (D., W.Va.) moderated an earlier session described as a “discussion with Trump voters,”according to a draft schedule of the retreat that Politico obtained. Many of the events were geared toward understanding Trump voters and how to convert them to support Democrats in 2018.
What? Now they want to understand Trump’s voters in order to steal many of them back after they were most famously labeled as deplorables by HRC. That was just the start as many Trump supporters have been physically abused, spat on, protested against, etc. by those in the “tolerant” Party.
Is their effort sincere? Doubtful given the keynote speakers at their retreat:
Several liberal speakers–including political operative David Brock, Center for American Progress CEO Neera Tanden, and Priorities USA CEO Guy Cecil…
Those are some of the same people that advised Hillary on her losing campaign on messaging and strategy. But they do have Joe Manchin giving a seminar on a “discussion with Trump voters”.
One session at the Democratic retreat focused on “speaking to those who feel invisible in rural America.” Two others were titled “Listening to those feel unheard” and “Rising America–They feel unheard too.”
This part of the FreeBeacon piece tickled me:
A criticism of the Democratic Party coming out of the 2016 elections was that it had forgotten how to talk to working-class white voters, who were more concerned about jobs and the economy than social justice issues.
They didn’t forget how to talk to them! The Democrat Party made a concerted effort to explicitly exclude them from their Party. They decided to only concentrate on the whole alphabet of minorities, from gays and transgenders, to blacks and Muslims, to women not men, illegals and refugees instead of citizens and any other identity they could find or manufacture.
Their Party is antiquated. It has ceased to exist in most of America and has been wiped out across the spectrum thanks to Obama’s eight years in office. One of the most ironic thing of Hillary’s campaign was putting Obama front and center on her campaign knowing he was the Decimator in Chief of the Democrat Party. That was an epic mistake but she did anyway because she didn’t have her own platform to run on.
Trust is hard to regain once it’s lost. Trump is consolidating his base of newly-minted supporters (those that voted D their whole life until 2016) by meeting with private unions, black leaders and hard-hat workers. He’s hired a lot of shakers in his cabinet but he’s still courting the makers from America’s heartland. The D Party will have to drastically change their language and actions if they hope to regain the voters they lost.
Holding seminars on how to talk to regular people is hardly a good sign because it assumes they just don’t know how to relate to the average American. They really are the elite Party and now on the endangered species list. Even the EPA can’t save them now.
And now, for something completely different, I suggest they start a Ministry of Silly Talk and take their cues from this for their training video:
