Hagel is done talking about the surge

Chuck Hagel says it is time to change the subject and stop talking about the surge. Here is his statement:

“Quit talking about, ‘Did the surge work or not work,’ or, ‘Did you vote for this or support this,'” Hagel said Thursday on a conference call with reporters.”Get out of that. We’re done with that. How are we going to project forward?” the Nebraska senator said. “What are we going to do for the next four years to protect the interest of America and our allies and restructure a new order in the world. … That’s what America needs to hear from these two candidates. And that’s where I am.”

Well hold up there Chucky, why so quick to change the subject? Because Hagel sponsored an anti surge resolution, stating:

I do not believe that the United States should be sending more American troops into the middle of the tribal, sectarian civil war that is occurring in Iraq,” Hagel said.

Of course Chuck Hagel was clearly wrong on the subject of the surge, stating it has failed as recently as March. Looking forward to the future, not only his initial opposition to the surge but also his refusal to acknowledge its success, shows that Hagel, like Obama does not have the judgment needed to bring stability and lasting democracy to Iraq.

Also it would appear that Hagel is conceding Obama’s “judgement” argument by stating that the focus should be on the future, not judgments in the past.Of course Chuck Hagel was clearly wrong on the subject of the surge, stating it has failed as recently as March.
