Debate Win, Place & Show

[mc_name name=’Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’C001098′ ] was in total control. Cruz controlled the moderators, by answering questions in a way that encouraged them to ask follow-up questions, thus increasing his time. He lured Kasich into battle over bail-outs, and crushed the Governor.  Cruz was not flawless, but he showed an ability to handle adversity that Rubio didn’t.

[mc_name name=’Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’R000595′ ] had a great showing.  We’re supposed to say he won. But Rubio comes off as very rehearsed, that makes him feel at times inauthentic. But even as rehersed as he is, Marco is feeling confident and it showed. He avoided the immigration question, courtesy of the moderators. He was strong on foreign policy. But while he’ll inherit more Bush and Kasich supporters, Rubio comes off like the youngest on stage, and not in a good way.

Carly Fiorina showed up again, she was strong, she was poised, she was prepared. But while she showed well, she didn’t lead the debate on any issue.
