In case you missed it, Michael Cohen’s “lawyer” Lanny Davis is now making all kinds of crazy claims that Cohen will confirm that Trump colluded with the Russians, knew about the hacked emails, etc.
Why do I call that crazy? Because if Cohen had any information like that, there’s zero chance he’d of been offered a plea without a requirement for cooperation. Secondly, if Cohen had such information, Robert Mueller would of never passed the case off and allowed him to sign a plea not stipulating testimony on his part. Thirdly, if Cohen had such information, he’d of likely been able to avoid jail time all together as it would have been immense, smoking gun evidence in Mueller’s hunt for collusion.
So why is Lanny Davis out there saying this stuff? Well, for starters, he’s a Clinton hack and Democrat operative. He sees the ability to add to a political narrative by running his mouth, knowing he’ll never have to prove anything he says.
Perhaps there’s a more pressing reason though. Lanny wants to get paid.
Lanny Davis, the public face of Cohen’s legal team, said Wednesday he has set up a “truth fund” to help pay Cohen’s legal fees.
The page, hosted late Tuesday on crowdfunding site GoFundMe, promises that all donations will go “to help Michael Cohen and his family as he goes forward on his journey to tell the truth about Donald Trump.”
Here’s part of the writeup at the page itself.
On July 2, 2018, Michael Cohen declared his independence from Donald Trump and his commitment to tell the truth.
On August 21, Michael Cohen made the decision to take legal responsibility and to continue his commitment to tell the truth.
Michael decided to put his family and his country first. Now Michael needs your financial help — to pay his legal fees.
Lanny Davis thinks he can grab a fistful of that that sweet, sweet resistance cash as long as he stays in the news by making promises to desperate liberals about Cohen being Mueller’s silver bullet on collusion. He’s teasing this as a way to ensure Michael Cohen can continue to “tell the truth” to investigators. Never mind that Cohen has already plead and clearly has nothing left to offer.
Davis assumes that many liberals are idiots. He’s right. At the writing of this, the fund is up to $45,000 and climbing by the hour.
You’d think anti-Trumpers would catch onto this scam but nope. Their hatred of Trump is so deeply seeded that they’ll continue to line the pockets of con artists if it means feeling like they took a shot at the President.
Hey, it’s there money I guess. It’s not like there are actual people in need out there. Better to pad the pockets of a partisan, millionaire lawyer.
