I hope they continue this Kos approach through Nov. 2010

Yeah, it sucks that we lost our 60th vote, but really, what did 60 get us last year? It empowered Joe Lieberman, gave cover to Blanche Lincoln, provided excuses to Harry Reid, and gave a free pass to Max Baucus.

Now we don’t have 60. And like the Republican Senate of the 2000s, if Democrats want to get anything done, they’ll have to do it via reconciliation.

Given last year’s track record in the Senate, it certainly can’t make the Senate any less effective.

Is there anybody to the right of oh maybe Dennis Kucinich that he doesn’t detest?

I love the “if Democrats want to get anything done, they’ll have to do it via reconciliation” line. IOW they’d better not try to find any common ground with the GOP under our post-partisan President. “Get rid of all the non-progressive Dems and never compromise on anything” seems like a real winning strategy for 2010.

My wife is as apolitical of a person as exists in this country, and she called it well before the 2008 election: “People always get tired of the party in charge, so Obama’s going to win.” That was waaaaay closer to the truth than what the progressive minions are willing to admit. But the longer they keep their blinders on and the more they hunker down, the better.
