Obama looking to create jobs in Michigan - by moving all the Gitmo prisoners there

… because you know darn well the Kansas people won’t let it be there.

It’s unclear whether this mess is just a trial balloon or a serious plan.

The Obama administration is looking at creating a courtroom-within-a-prison complex in the U.S. to house suspected terrorists, combining military and civilian detention facilities at a single maximum-security prison.

Several senior U.S. officials said the administration is eyeing a soon-to-be-shuttered state maximum security prison in Michigan and the 134-year-old military penitentiary at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., as possible locations for a heavily guarded site to hold the 229 suspected al-Qaida, Taliban and foreign fighters now jailed at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba.

Oh please. They can’t possibly think they are going to move these guys to American soil into some shared prison complex and say that one group there has certain rights that another group doesn’t. How long before some judge decides they are all civilian prisoners who deserve free unlimited legal help and a speedy trial under normal rules of evidence, discovery, etc.

P.S. The article didn’t say which facility in Michigan is being considered. I wonder how close it is to Dearborn?

P.P.S. A “courtroom within a prison” – isn’t that what the old Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia had?
