She must be More Qualified than Anyone Thought

Sarah Palin must be more qualified and ready to assume the Presidency than anyone thought. She must be more qualified and ready to assume the Presidency than Obama and the liberal media wants to admit.

Sarah has the left-wing bloggers and liberal media running scared. Their vile and disgusting attacks against her and her family are proof that they truly believe the American people have not bought into their inexperience argument. They see that she has not only energized the conservative base of the Republican Party, but she may even be inspiring the conservative members of the Democrat Party, Independents and some Hillary supporters. Therefore, they have to destroy her. They have to destroy her family. They have to destroy her credibility. They have to demean her accomplishments. They have to make her pay for daring to challenge the status quo.Sarah has shattered the conservative woman myth that the left-wingers have tried so hard to make the public believe. She is a strong, successful woman who thinks for herself. She is a woman of religious conviction. She is a lifetime member of the NRA, who can probably out shoot and out hunt many men. She’s not barefoot and pregnant and chained to the kitchen sink, and worst of all; she’s not subservient to her husband.

These same sort of attacks have proven very successful for the left-wingers and liberals over the past couple of decades with regard to other conservatives who dared to challenge the status quo.

First, when President Reagan nominated Robert Bork for the U.S. Supreme Court in 1987, Ted Kennedy spent 45 minutes on the Senate floor declaring:

“Robert Bork’s America is a land in which women would be forced into back-alley abortions, blacks would sit at segregated lunch counters, rogue police could break down citizens’ doors in midnight raids, schoolchildren could not be taught about evolution, writers and artists could be censored at the whim of the Government, and the doors of the Federal courts would be shut on the fingers of millions of citizens for whom the judiciary is – and is often the only – protector of the individual rights that are the heart of our democracy…President Reagan is still our president. But he should not be able to reach out from the muck of Irangate, reach into the muck of Watergate and impose his reactionary vision of the Constitution on the Supreme Court and the next generation of Americans. No justice would be better than this injustice.”

In addition, TV ads narrated by Gregory Peck attacked Bork as an extremist. His video rental history was leaked to the press (which lead to the enactment of the 1988 Video Privacy Protection Act), and he was slammed by pro-choice groups for his call to reverse Roe v. Wade.

Bork’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court was rejected and as a result of his treatment he reigned appellate-court judgeship in 1988.

Second, when President George H.W. Bush nominated Clarence Thomas, a black conservative, to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1991, some of the most vile accusations of sexual impropriety and sexual harassment were levied at him by several women: Anita Hill, an attorney who worked with Thomas at the Department of Education and EEOC; Angela Wright, who worked with Thomas at the EEOC; Rose Jourdain; and Sukari Hardnett.

Thomas denied all allegations by saying, “This is not an opportunity to talk about matters privately or in a closed environment. This is a circus. It’s a national disgrace. And from my standpoint, as a black American, it is a high-tech lynching for uppity blacks who in any way design to think for themselves, to do for themselves, to have different ideas, and it is a message that unless you kowtow to an old order, this is what will happen to you. You will be lynched, destroyed, caricatured by a committee of the U.S. Senate rather than hung from a tree.”

After an extensive debate his nomination to the full Senate without a recommendation in either way. Thomas was confirmed by the Senate with a 52-48 margin.

Third, when Former Maryland Lt. Governor Michael Steele, a black conservative, who ran for the U.S. Senate against Democrat Ben Cardin in 2006, Cardin attacked Steele over his close relations with Bush, including pictures of Bush and Steele in Cardin’s TV ads; while Steele focused on low taxes, less government, free markets and national security. In addition, a blog run by Steve Gilliard, a politically liberal African-American, depicted Steele as a blackface minstrel. Cardin won 54% of the votes to Steele’s 44%.

Finally, when President George W. Bush nominated Harriet Miers to succeed Sandra Day O’Conner on the U.S. Supreme Court in 2005, her nomination was criticized from people all over the political spectrum based on her never having served as a judge, her perceived lack of intellectual rigor, her close personal ties to Bush, and her lack of a clear record on issues likely to be encountered as a Supreme Court Justice. Many notable conservatives vigorously criticized her nomination, and numerous conservative groups normally considered part of Bush’s political base planned to mount an organized opposition campaign. Her nomination was withdrawn after several failed meetings with the Senate Judiciary Committee.

There are so many more, but you get the picture.

Left-wingers and liberals have been so successful at destroying their opposition they just can’t help themselves. However, they may have met their match this time. One thing I know about mavericks, when push comes to shove, they push harder; and when backed into a corner, they fight back fiercely.

Sarah has done a valiant job ignoring the attacks and staying above the fray. If she can remain dignified and calm throughout this challenge, then she will only solidify her standing in the hearts and minds of millions of Americans.

Some members of the left-wing and liberal world have stated that these attacks are a concerted effort to force McCain to drop Sarah Palin from the Republican ticket and they hope that by this time next week McCain will announce that she has withdrawn her nomination. I hope their ploy backfires in their faces and that on November 5th all the mud slinging left-wingers are scratching their heads and wondering what went wrong.
