While doing some reading recently I was reminded of an infamous [mc_name name=’Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’W000817′ ] quote – “Nobody in this country got rich on their own. Nobody. You built a factory out there? Good for you! But I want to be clear. You moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for. You didn’t have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory – and hire someone to protect against this – because of the work the rest of us did.”
This verbal spewage is just dripping with wrongheadedness. That was true when the leftist senator from Massachusetts said it, well before the rioting in Ferguson and New York took place. But in reading it again in the shadow of those episodes, I can’t help but think of the good people whose livelihoods were looted and carried away, their establishments vandalized and in some cases burned to the ground (some of which happened under the protection of armed “law enforcement”), by what are aptly described as “marauding bands.” Do they feel beholden to the [mc_name name=’Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’W000817′ ]s of the world? Are they today grateful for the virtues of leftism?
To state the obvious, business owners, rich and otherwise, are not merely the beneficiaries of tax-funded government services – they also contribute mightily to roads, fire departments, and the police departments, and, in truth, contribute a great deal more than the vast majority of people who voted for Warren. Beyond that, it is demonstrably true that liberalism costs business owners, and the rest of the productive class (i.e., that half of the population that still pays income taxes), far more than it will ever provide. Even more maddening, the behavior of the “marauding bands” in Ferguson and New York is the direct result of leftism, and the divisiveness preached by so many liberals. In the aftermath of the grand jury decision in Ferguson, leftist race hustlers from Al Sharpton to Eric Holder to Barry Obama were all quick to add more fuel to the fire. It’s who these people are – they can’t help it.
I am certain that we’ve not seen the end of such episodes, and here, a paraphrase of Obama’s spiritual adviser, the Reverend Wright, is apropos – the “marauding bands” are Elizabeth Warren’s, and divisive leftist’s everywhere, chickens coming home to roost.
