MSNBC WATCH: Dead Jews are not news?; Libyan hypocrisy; ObamaCare anniversary lies

Such a terrible news network, so much to discuss.

77% of American Jews voted for President Obama. I wasn’t one of them. Would anyone care to guess what a poll in Israel on Obama’s popularity would look like right now?

MSNBC, as usual, simply doesn’t report on terrorist atrocities in Israel. The Fogel family? Young children murdered in their sleep? An entire nation of Palestinians handing out sweets to celebrate? This is never part of Rachel Maddow’s search for “what’s true in the world.”

I was sure that Rachel Maddow would never discuss yesterday’s bombing in Jerusalem. She didn’t discuss it. Ed Schultz didn’t discuss it. Lawrence O’Donnell didn’t discuss it. Chris Matthews didn’t discuss it.

At MSNBC, dead Jews are not news.

President Obama? From Weasel Zippers:

Unreal: Obama’s Statement on Terror Attack Against Israelis Mourns Palestinian Deaths in Gaza, Calls for Restraint From Both Sides…

It really has been bizarre to see both Rachel Maddow and Ed Schultz do so much pro-Obama spinning to support the war on Libya. Obama didn’t approach Congress? Great strategy! No oval office address to the nation? He’s not a cowboy like George Bush! And you just know that if a Republican president had done this, Maddow and Schultz would be doing 180s to condemn the action. At least the anti-war Ralph Naders are consistent, but many of them are quiet this time.

MSNBC didn’t air one second of Senator Barack Obama’s or Senator Joe Biden’s or Senator Hillary Clinton’s condemnations of the Iraq War. Senator Biden once said that not approaching Congress first was an impeachable offense, but to MSNBC, this hypocrisy is not “what’s true in the world.”

NewsBusters discusses a little of this hypocrisy, but the Schultz-Maddow Obama-spin is really much worse to anyone who knows the facts:

O’Reilly, Code Pink Founder Agree: Schultz and Maddow Are Hypocrites
By Lachlan Markay | March 23, 2011 | 13:45
They won’t agree on much, but Fox News host Bill O’Reilly and Medea Benjamin, founder of the far-left anti-war group Code Pink, found some common ground on one fact Tuesday night: MSNBC talkers Rachel Maddow and Ed Shultz are hypocrites.

Both Schultz and Maddow defended President Obama’s decision to impose a no fly zone over Libya on their respective shows. Maddow trotted out the “reluctant warrior” line, while Schultz insisted that the president “deserves the benefit of the doubt and our support.”

Rachel Maddow and Ed Schultz ran old tapes of Glenn Beck and Michele Bachmann and others saying that ObamaCare means the end of the United States as we know it. Maddow and Schultz then beamed that ObamaCare is one year old and we’re still all here! The sun still shines!

Do they know they’re lying or do they think we’re stupid?

The big ObamaCare costs kick in for the year 2013, after the 2012 election. Of course, we’re not going to find out the worst of it in the first year. They really do think we’re stupid.

Not mentioned at all were the million-plus ObamaCare waivers, and there’s this from Weasel Zippers:

Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-Oscar Mayer) Wants ObamaCare Waiver For NYC…

A leading ObamaCare supporter wants waivers for everyone in New York City. Report this, Rachel, and wipe that smile off your face. It’s not a happy anniversary.

Portugal seems to me to have been a big story yesterday. MSNBC didn’t cover it, but CNBC did:

Europe to Open Up Despite Portugal Woes
Published: Thursday, 24 Mar 2011 | 1:53 AM ET
Portuguese Prime Minister Jose Socrates resigned on Wednesday after the country’s parliament rejected his government’s latest austerity measures.

The euro [EUR=X 1.4061 -0.0029 (-0.21%) ] fell on the news, as investors worried that heavily-indebted Portugal may be the next country to require a bailout. But the euro zone currency continued to trade above the $1.40 level against the dollar ahead of an European Union summit in Brussels.

Rachel Maddow did a “Debunktion Junction” attacking WI Senator Ron Johnson and Newt Gingrich.

Lawrence O’Donnell did a rare Glenn Beck-free show (the day before featured an 8-minute rant), but Ed Schultz picked up the slack with a Glenn Beck story. Chris Matthews, as usual, had a story on Sarah Palin.

I shouldn’t be surprised anymore when MSNBC totally ignores the horrific terrorist attack in Israel (again) to cover Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck and Newt Gingrich.

The Obama ass-kissing spin on Libya? Should I be surprised?

The ObamaCare lies? Should I be surprised?

This always-infuriating MSNBC Watch was with the focus of half a brain while I was researching the origin of the word “edumacation” and adding it to my website of Americanisms.

MSNBC’s total lack of Israel coverage made me sad. I sure wish American Judaism would wake up.
