Is Alex Jones a paid Russian shill? (little coverage of Russian spies or anti-Russian stories)

We ignore Alex Jones at our peril. His influence is growing. But what exactly is his act? Is he being paid by Russia?

I’ve long wondered why he only bashes the United States. “9-11 was an inside job!” he declares. The United States and the international bankers are the cause of all evil in the world. Russia and China and North Korea and Iran and Syria and Venezuela can commit many times the atrocities, but that never gets his notice. Islamic terrorism is always excused or explained away. Always.

“Spy Suspects Leave U.S. in Swap With Russia” is the top story in Friday’s New York Times. The story isn’t featured at all on the Alex Jones websites Infowars.com and PrisonPlanet.com. Maybe, by tomorrow, he’ll link to something. Big deal. I noticed a similar reluctance when the Russian spy story originally broke. Almost nothing. Don’t you think that if ten American spies were arrested, or if ten Israeli spies were arrested, that it would be a top story for Alex Jones?

Even the odious New York Times has a nice new video: “Jailed by the K.G.B.’s Successor: The prosecution of a mayor in Siberia shows how the F.S.B. operates in today’s Russia with virtually unchecked power.” It’s not something that Alex Jones would ever write about or even link to. Why is that?

it appears that Alex Jones’s websites are rapidly gaining popularity.

PrisonPlant.com (almost 500,000 unique visitors a month)

Glenn Beck did a segment about “RT” (Russia Today) on Thursday’s show, with someone from the New Black Panthers attacking Fox News. Beck wondered–RT? Is this a television version of the old Pravda? The New Black Panthers state their case on Russian propaganda television?

Alex Jones never appears on Fox News, but he’s made many appearances on RT. (This is from May 6, 2010.) Why is that? “Truther” and other similar sites also frequently show RT video.

Websites, as you all know, are the internet’s wild west. Who’s writing this? Can I trust it? It’s very hard to tell.

Yes, Alex, even the U.S. government does this on occasion. From Wikipedia:

The Bush administration payment of columnists refers to the payment of public funds to right-wing media commentators by several U.S. executive departments under Cabinet officials to promote various policies of U.S. President George W. Bush’s administration. Hundreds of thousands of dollars were paid to at least three commentators to promote Bush administration policies.

The Obama administration, of course, gets its Fifth Column free of charge. The MSM is only too happy to help him.

We know that the Soviet Union funded a lot of the American anti-war radicals in the 1960s.

Are we to believe that Russia’s influence in American life today ends with the RT (which few non-Russian Americans watch) and these ten spies?

Let’s take one spy–the hot one–Anna Chapman.

“Anna Chapman”–3,500,000 results

“Anna Chapman”–9,330 results

“Anna Chapman”–447,000 results

“Anna Chapman”–1 result

One result! It soft-peddles the Russian spies:

The Ultimate “RED” Herring: The Russians are Back!
Michael Edwards
Activist Post
July 3, 2010
The evil, Red communists apparently are back to subvert the sacred institutions of America. Mainstream media’s contrived naïveté to the idea of deep-cover sex spies from Russia is nothing but a planned diversion for what is the long-standing practice of many nations blending into the halls of corporate recruitment in order to join the Globalist network.

Whether or not the media is trying to peddle a new Cold War is largely irrelevant; we should consider the source. The media itself is groomed in the very same institutions, and has long been on assignment to defend the establishment corporate control system via well-documented CIA operations of propaganda management. Former director of the CIA, William Colby, said it himself in 2004: “The Central Intelligence Agency owns everyone of significance in the major media.” That being the case, the insinuations of a new Red Scare from a blatant disinformation channel should swiftly be called into question.

The Activist Post? Alex Jones links to The Activist Post for his only story on this?

The spies did plead guilty and are being exchanged. They were Russia spies–it’s admitted. The Russian spy story is not a joke and it’s not fiction.

I heard Alex Jones’s Sunday, July 4th show on KLBJ-AM in Austin. There were the usual two guests–Ron Paul and Jesse Ventura. Jones asked Ventura what he thought about this trumped-up Russia spy story. Ventura thought it was a joke.

Again, would they say the same things about captured American spies? Captured Israeli spies?

Remember the Russia-Georgia conflict of 2008? Tiny Georgia (I’ve been there) is a loyal US ally. Guess how Alex Jones reported it?

U.S. Attacks Russia Through Client State Georgia
Paul Joseph Watson

Georgian forces, trained and equipped by the Pentagon and the U.S. government, killed 10 Russian peacekeepers early this morning in a provocation attack that has escalated into military conflict, but the subsequent corporate media coverage would have us believe that the U.S. and NATO-backed client state Georgia is a helpless victim, when in actual fact a far more nuanced geopolitical strategy is being played out.

Original reports early this morning detailed how Georgian forces had killed 10 Russian peacekeepers and wounded 30 others, which was the provocation for Russian forces to begin military operations, but the fact that Georgian forces were responsible for starting the conflagration has been completely buried in subsequent media coverage.

Georgia attacked Russia! Maybe they were watching that old movie, The Mouse That Roared (1959).

Yes, the area is disputed between Georgia and Russia. Georgia feels that the disputed area is part of their sovereign country, and I’d tend to agree. Russia thinks it’s theirs. Alex Jones’s websites took Russia’s side.

From a September 2008 post to Prison Planet Forum:

Russian television is to give prime time airing to a 9/11 film on the eve of this week’s seventh anniversary of the attacks in New York and DC.
The public showing of Italian Truth film could lead to international tribunal.

Italian film-maker Giulietto Chiesa, who was in Berlin for a screening
of his documentary (“ZERO”) which questions the official US version
of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, has called for an international tribunal to
probe events.
Chiesa was in Berlin at the weekend for a screening of his film which
features, among others, novelist Gore Vidal and playwright Dario Fo as
well as retired American professor of philosophy David Ray Griffin who
advances conspiracy theories that contradict mainstream accounts of
events of 11 September, 2001.
Federal Aviation Administration controllers, US Air Force pilots,
military commanders and physicists also appear in the critical
documentary, which the director hopes will create “political
of the “faulty” official investigation into the events by the 9/11
“Some of the individuals appearing in the film are former FBI and CIA
agents, people who have in a sense taken a very big risk in speaking
out. I am very grateful to them because they have done a big job,” said
“The film would not have been possible without them,” he said, adding
that ZERO had been seen in France and Belgium at individual screenings,
and by more than 20,000 people in Italy. But the film so far has not
gained a distributor in Europe.
In an interview with German news agency dpa, Chiesa, a European
parliamentary deputy, said Russian television is to give prime time
airing to his film on the eve of this week’s seventh anniversary of the
attacks in New York and Washington.
“That means that some 30 million Russian citizens will learn the truth
about what happened, which is a very big result for me.”

Hillary Clinton’s Latest Lies
Paul Craig Roberts
July 8, 2010
The BBC reported on July 4 that US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that the US ballistic missile base in Poland was not directed at Russia. The purpose of the base, she said, is to protect Poland from the Iranian threat.

Why would Iran be a threat to Poland? What happens to US credibility when the Secretary of State makes such a stupid statement? Does Hillary think she is fooling the Russians? Does anyone on earth believe her? What is the point of such a transparent lie? To cover up an act of American aggression against Russia?

Russia’s side, again. European missile defense provided by the US is evil.

Is Alex Jones getting paid by Russia? Are other 9-11 Truthers getting paid by Russia?

I don’t know.

What I do know is that Alex Jones is hard on the US and very, very soft on Russia.

I do know that Alex Jones hasn’t been all that interested in reporting the Russian spy story.

I do know that Alex Jones appears frequently on RT (Russia Today).

Alex Jones’s websites contain much information and also much disinformation. I agree with much of what he says about banking and about the loss of our freedoms in America.

Always remember, however, that it’s the internet.

Always question what you read.

Caveat emptor.
