A Declaration From Dependence (originally written in the winter of 2010)
The Striking Similarities
The Declaration of Independence is arguably the most prolific document with the most profound impact on the nature of governing a civil society, in human history. A document inspired by many of the greatest minds in history, from historical giants of philosophy such as Aristotle and Saint Thomas Aquinas; to more resent philosophers such as Edmund Burk, Thomas Hobbs, and John Lock. One can observe and deduce through writings and teachings used by our founders, passed down throughout the centuries, that Americas founding fathers were well educated, versatile men whose convictions to the idea of whole heartedly embracing freedom, changed the world more in the two hundred years after their contribution to history than the in fifty-thousand years of human existence prior. The form of government these great men chose to throw off was one of despotic usurpations and one of tyrannical control over wealth and the instrumentalities there of. Through the use of burdensome taxation and the purposeful misrepresentation of the colonies by King Georges government alienated the population of the colonies from the ruling instrumentalities and therefore became ineffective and unreasoning in local affairs. The issue became more apparent and unavoidable when the King ordered a tax increase on tea in the colonies in order to pay for a costly war the king was pursuing against the French. The colonists once informed reacted by tarring and feathering the King’s man who delivered the edict and then proceeded to further display their displeasure by dumping the tea aboard the newly arriving vessels into the Boston Harbor. This event became known as the “Boston Tea Party” and it has inspired modern- day Americans to adopt the “Tea Party” title in their opposition to modern liberal tax and spend polices. In order to maintain control the King then amassed an army and navy on the shores of the colonies to intimidate the population into compliance. At this point all it took was one misunderstanding where disgruntled protesters amassed upon a beleaguered group of British Solders, in the streets of Boston Massachusetts, who began to harass the soldiers by throwing snowballs and ice at them to show their displeasure with the Kings actions that brought them to America’s shores. The soldiers who felt fear for their lives then commenced to fire their muskets into the crowed despite being ordered not to by the superior officer on the scene. This event became known as the “Boston Massacre” and is arguably known as the first shots fired in the American Revolution. A Revolution of free men struggling to define and preserve their freedom for their peers and families and for generations of Americans to come by throwing off an outdated and tired form of government for that of one based on historical pretext and inspired by but not wholly indebted to divine providence.
What is striking is that the form of government our founding Fathers toiled and shed blood to overthrow shares many characteristics to that of 2010’s United States Federal Government. When examining the similarities of colonial Britain and contemporary America’s Governments one can easily draw many correlations such as military might. There are however, similarities between these two governments, that despite being separated by over two hundred years of history, delves deeper than a simplistic comparison of basic aesthetics, such as, the size and reach of military capacities. Respectively being the most powerful nations for their time periods, both with the largest navies and most proactive and encompassing militaries on the planet. Libertarians and Leftists relentlessly point at this as if those facets of these respective governments stand for and perform the same operations as well as act in similar manners and therefore cause “blow-back”.1 The American Revolution was not blowback from the French acting in Canada and to state that Islamic countries stand against the USA because of our involvement in neighboring countries like Iraq, is not wholly intellectually honest. The fact of the matter is that the USA having a strong sizable military force does more to promote a free trade and peace on a planetary scale than if the USA was a meager force and acted only when provoked. A strong military presence provides a real deterrent to those who would seek to subvert freedom and economic trade and a method of enforcement when nation states or organizations violate that freedom.
Furthermore, the left points at any military action as unjust and inhumane regardless of the reason for military action or the context in which action takes place.2
The similarities between the two governments in military size and scope in relation to other nations in their respective time periods ends at the size and scope comparison model, and even that is a stretch. The context in which the two governments operate is more important to understand than the basic aesthetic similarities amongst them. The military force of the past was one of tyrannical occupation causing despotism amongst the citizenry as well as disenfranchisement and the utter repression of free economic activities amongst private citizens; the result of which spawned Thomas Jefferson and others to draft a, “Declaration of Independence” by the American people from the English Crown in July of 1776.3 For this reason it is not the modern military branch of the current government that threatens the citizenry; as the colonial Britain’s did but rather, it is bureaucracy and the bloated conglomeration of the current legislative branch; with all of its committees, groups, lobbyists, and numerous acronym-laden departments, as well as over reaching justices legislating from the bench, that threaten the liberty of citizens under the current governments dominion.4
Although, through the simple aesthetic assessment one can use the definition of the words “occupy” or “police” to define current military policies, one can also use the definition of the words “liberate” or “safeguard” to define current military action which is to act in a proactive, preemptive manner to preserve and spread freedom as well as to provide humanitarian goodwill to formerly and currently repressed peoples as well as peoples in crisis.5 This is the major glaring difference between the two styles of military use discussed here. The colonial British used the military to enforce the will of a king over a citizenry without consideration or consent of the citizenry, British or American. The colonial Brits used its military to brutalize and to threaten the citizenry under its dominion, whereas the current military force is used with the consent of the people, to preserve the peoples’ liberties and economic freedoms rather than a military used to suppress and hinder freedoms. 6 One can choose to debate the similarities and dissimilarities in the governments’ militaries and their respective uses of force endlessly. However, its discussion here is intended to precede the conversation to ultimately compare the reasons the American people of 1775 decided to convene in congress and disband their allegiance to the King of England, to what is currently taking place under the current legislative processes as well as the current presidential administration’s policies.
In “The Declaration of Independence”, the reasons for such action against the King of England was enumerated and explained in detail as to understand why the colonies wished to disband from the King of England. The Founders even chose to include a litany of offences committed against the people of the American colonies in the document. The document states:
“The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.”
Replace the phrase “King of Great Britain” with the either phrase: “United States Federal Government” or more appropriately “U.S. Government’s Policies regarding Globalization, Political Correctness, or, the Adoption of Progressivism as a Political Philosophy”, and one can begin to draw a few instances which can be seen as relevant
and true to contemporary American politics. 7
The words that follow the statement above in the Declaration are simply a list of grievances with the Crown. They are numerous and call attention to several issues folks in the colonies took offence to. There is a striking parallel in several of these grievances to the way many modern day Americans feel about the power and scope of our current federal government’s procedures and policies enacted or currently promoted. When reading the words of Mr. Jefferson in the Declaration one can draw the corollary with several of these colonial grievances to what is currently taking place in the U.S. Government. For instance, some of the grievances that Jefferson wrote about the King of England can be applied to the modern day progressive liberal agenda:
1.) “He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures”
2.) “He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.”
3.) “He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.”
4.) “He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:”
a.) “For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:
For protecting them, by mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the inhabitants of these States”
b.) “For cutting off out Trade with all parts of the world”
c.) “For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments”
d.) “For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.”
5.) “He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavored to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers”
If you have not begun to make the inference or any corollaries are not immediately apparent to you, allow me to expound. Starting with number one above, let’s examine the reach of these statements from colonial America to modern day America.
1.) “He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records,
for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures”
To be fair, the historical context of this phrase must be understood as addressing the misrepresentation of the colonies as well as the physical location of legislative bodies and meeting places. However, the modern day equivalent to this practice is taking place when congress holds votes on controversial legislation at unreasonable hours,8 purposely introducing bloated two-thousand page bills written with coded language that only those who penned it can comprehend in order to overwhelm the system,9 as well as holding meetings behind closed doors devoid of balanced representation in the consolidation process.10 How is the average citizen to understand this legislation if, one, it is not available to them and, two, it is not legible to the average citizen when available?
The processes used by the current democratic majorities, plus the array of different bills introduced in rapid succession is designed, just as Jefferson stated about the kings governing polices, “for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures”; “them” being the American citizen and “his measures” being the current liberal agenda. President Obama himself has taught out of Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals”, a book which promotes this type of action in order to bring about the now infamous slogan of “change”.11 Obama and his ideological equals ambiguously refer to change, the problem is the sort of change he is referring to,12 which is becoming more and more apparent that he means a soft tyranny, a phrase radio host Mark Levin has reintroduced to the lexicon but originated in the writings of Alexis De Tocqueville.13
2.) “He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of
Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.”
When pondering this, one may become incensed at the notion of all of the agencies, departments, and services that the government is currently operating. The most recognizable of these types of government organizations are agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and the Department of Education (DOE) and National Education Association (NEA). The power of each of these institutions to drive legislative and political policy is enormous and
Democrats continuously block reforms in education that create standards for teachers and accountability in teaching. This is evidenced by the lefts opposition to school choice through the use of school vouchers.14 Vouchers would allow parents of children to choose where their children will go to school and which school their tax monies are being sent to respectively. This creates competition amongst schools and will force them to develop their product, in this case, providing a quality education in-order to remain economically viable. The left argues that this will put a lot of teachers out of work without mentioning that the schools that will fail are the schools that should fail. These schools consume massive amounts of taxpayer money in order to provide a more than sub-par education, which is tantamount to a bail out of bad educators and schools. The left focuses on the amount of money spent in the belief that more is better15 but that line of thought has proven irrational and problematic since schools have not improved with spending but rather have slowly declined in achievement scores.16 It’s not the amount of monies spent but how the government allocates the monies spent.
Although unconstitutional through a proper understanding of the document, we take money from people to provide public education; we can at least allow people to choose where the money, in which the government is confiscating supposedly on behalf of your own children, is spent. The NEA and teachers unions have opposed such free market solutions to a growing problem and have put on full display their interests are not to improve education for our children but rather to protect their own members. Some government institutions have essentially become an extension of the Democrat Party. Democrats are traditionally opposed to true reforms in education in order to protect education and teacher union leaders and members who traditionally donate heavily to democrat campaigns. Education reform, to the left, only requires increased spending in order to reward bad educational polices at the expense of our tax dollars but more importantly our children’s future.
The current litany of agencies and acronyms for agencies is overwhelming, especially when one attempts to reconcile that notion with the ideas and principles that has defined the founding of the United States government. As if these already existing agencies are not enough, President Obama has made it his number one priority to enact the biggest and most bureaucratic agency yet, by attempting to seize control over the American citizens’ health insurance industry.17 The new agency would have access to your previously private medical records, your tax information via the IRS and dictate what type of medical care one would receive while mandating that every tax paying citizen foot the bill.18 This agency and power it may wield may be cloaked in the humanitarian notion of heath care but it would be the largest most powerful federal agency with the widest scope and reach that will directly effect every Americans life adversely, more so than ever before in American history.19 (Also see point 4)
3.) “He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.”
When one first reads this they might think it is absurd to point to this and call it a liberal agenda because the left is traditionally anti-military. Flip-flop the words “Military” and “Civil power” in the statement and you have the current presidential administration’s policies regarding terrorists and trying them in civil courts rather than in military tribunals.20 It will read as, “He has affected to render the Civil power independent of and superior to the Military.” From closing Guantanamo Bay,21 to
refusing to call the “war on terror”, the “war on terror”, calling it an overseas contingency plan22 until almost a full year into his presidency,23 the current liberal politics has rendered a degree of impotence in the military’s effectiveness, as well as in homeland security, as evidenced by the increase of terrorist incidents that have occurred on American soil in recent months.24 (Also see point 4-a)
4.) “He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to
their Acts of pretended Legislation:”
The current progressive liberal agenda has been pursuing this “pretended Legislation” for years. From notions of a war on poverty, thanks to Woodrow Wilson, to notions of a federal income tax, thanks to FDR, the left has been perusing avenues to confiscate and redistribute power and wealth for decades. There are modern examples of this sort of mushrooming progressive political agenda, which is never satisfied and lusts for an unattainable utopia through perpetrating lies, promising that they can fix whatever invented crises they themselves create, all the while committing frauds to manipulate power, wealth, and the truth.25 Ever hear of Global Warming? Although the science is far from settled on the causes of global warming or even if it is truly occurring, politicians have been pushing this issue for decades despite not knowing if climate change is even achievable by man or weather it is the sun that is the ultimate variable in the supposed phenomenon;26 the latter being most likely of the two, considering the fact that elementary science teaches that the weather changes due to the rotation of the earth and its tilt and position in relation to the sun. This is what causes the climate to change and always has; except in catastrophic instances, such as surface impact from a large celestial object or possible nuclear war followed by nuclear winter.
Furthermore, The EPA has assumed the power to regulate carbon dioxide27 and because of a Supreme Court decision classifying “CO2”, a naturally occurring gas, as a “pollutant”: they will be given the authority to. This is a perfect example of unelected judges dictating policy, abusing their power, and legislating from the bench. The left has used the appointment of sympathetic activist judiciaries in order to sway policy by skewed interpretations of the constitution in conjunction with creating false historical precedent.28 This practice was implemented with great success and frequency by FDR and was how he eventually pushed through his agenda to redistribute wealth and punish political enemies through agencies such as the IRS.29 The IRS, although not created by FDR, has been used as a tool by politicians to attack political opponents ever since, of which is to his credit.
The current supine polices of appeasing foreign nations rather than confronting them has also subjected America to foreign jurisdictions, or as Jefferson put it, “jurisdiction foreign to our constitution,” by allowing international agencies such as Interpol to have jurisdiction in the United States30 and by supporting global energy cap- and-trade polices31 as well as apologizing for America to foreign leaders,32 we are currently losing American sovereignty to international consensus and scientific frauds. Moreover, activist judges in high positions have been quoted as saying that it is appropriate to “borrow” from foreign laws and foreign courts when deciding cases.33 What about the constitution?
To believe that any one individual or group can or should interject into private economic activities is another fallacy that is currently being perpetrated onto an unknowing citizenry. The purposeful inciting of panic at the onset of a recession by politicians and their political reactions in the form of bail-outs and false economic stimuli plans has caused a more severe recession than most recessions go when these factors are absent. A natural and cyclic change that is economic activity is adversely affected when one believes they can manipulate something that only in retrospect can truly be observed. This is why when one wants to understand economic activity, one must simply look into the past to find that injecting government and hindering economic activity by involving bureaucracy at any level, causes adverse effects rather than correcting anything.34 For evidence of this all one has to do is look at FDR and his “New Deal” which was advertised as retraining those evil bankers from making obscene profits supposedly off the back of normal working folks. And restrain the banks he did, as well as threaten political opponents by using his high office as a platform for intimidation. The populous rhetoric that FDR employed was successful in a climate of economic despair that was the recession and eventually depression of the 1930’s because bankers are easy scapegoats for bad economic policy. First he befriended the banks by luring them in with tax payer monies while telling them if they don’t take it they will fail because after-all it’s an economic crisis, then you threaten them with government instrumentalities thereby limiting the banks economic freedoms and essentially controlling private capitol as well as public capitol. If this sounds all-to-familiar that’s because this is the exact rhetoric President Obama is reiterating.35
The present representation purposely uses the current economic conditions, which would recover if left to self-correct, to advance their radical agenda. America would
have been better off without the acquisition of billions of taxpayers’ money in the form of a string of bailouts. Several officials in high office were quoted as stating, “never let a crisis go to waste”,36 in relation to using the economic recession as specter to hold over the American public to accomplish numerous politically left agenda items, including funding for massive social engineering programs, such as universal health insurance. These are the very same tactics used by politicians of the past to override the constitution and enact their social agenda. Man cannot effect the weather no more than he can create a recession-proof economy or create a utopian society where there is no war, poverty, hunger, different points of view, and where we all join hands and sing along; only complete and utter ideologues are arrogantly-naive enough to believe so.
4 – a.) “For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us: For protecting them, by mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the inhabitants of these States”
For example, trying both the 9/11 terrorists and the Christmas Day Bomber in civil court rooms are the modern day equivalent of mock trials, and will recreate a circus- like media atmosphere similar to the O.J. Simpson murder trial of the mid-nineties. Although good for TV ratings and despite the liberal spin, doing so only protects terrorists from harsher “punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the inhabitants of these States”. Giving terrorist the same Miranda rights37 and domestic privileges as American citizens receive is an attempt to make a mockery of the American justice system. It will provide a forum for radical Islam to be placed on display and in essence will be giving these terrorists the equivalent of fifteen minutes of fame. When a terror incident occurs every leftists inclination is to immediately jump to the defense of Islam and the Muslim world as if it is their belief that most Americans are a simple dimwitted people who only associate skin color, ethnicity, or religious preference when examining the facts.38 The danger is not in the color of their skin, it is lurking beneath the surface within the motives of their terrorist acts. There are Islamic radicals whose ideologies have declared war on the United States of America and are either perpetrating or actively providing support for terror to be veiled over the American public. Avoiding the notion of allowing our officers to use profiling techniques to address the problem individuals, requires that we all suffer to oblige a small minority of the population so that they may not be uncomfortable or unintentionally made to feel so. We are asked to virtually jump through hoops when we want to use our airlines for the sake of being politically correct.39 By acting in this over-arching overly sensitive manner, politicians as well as race related groups, who claim to be the representative of an entire people or race, rather than simply concentrating and addressing the problem individuals, have made a mountain out of a mole-hill in regards to securing our nation from future terror attacks. 4 – b.) “For cutting off out Trade with all parts of the world”
Granted, we have not cut off trade “with all parts of the world”; however, current economic and taxing polices do greatly hinder trade. Moreover, by heavily taxing U.S. based firms the U.S. Governments’ policies are encouraging the outsourcing of jobs, which negatively effect tax revenue generated. More people paying low taxes create a much better situation than less people paying higher taxes. Also, low taxes make business more profitable by simply allowing them to keep the fruit of their labor in the form of money, creating more jobs and generating more tax revenues. (Also see point 4, last paragraph)
4 – c.) “For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments”
By now I am sure we have all heard President Obama say he wants to bring about a fundamental change in America.40 Obama wants to alter fundamentally the U.S. Constitution to include what he calls negative rights,41 as he was recorded saying on a local Chicago radio show. He and his ideological peers believe the State the ultimate source of sustenance and promote entrapping the masses into state run agencies that will dole out every imaginable human comfort to certain groups or individuals based on whatever criteria the government dictates.42 James Madison at the 1788 Virginia convention said:
“Since the general civilization of mankind I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachment of those in power then by violent usurpations.”
This is an objective assessment that is the history of civilization and government thereof. The poignant observations of our founders and their insights on human history in relation to government and civilization are completely ignored by today’s politicians and political elites. They have slowly chipped away at our liberties for decades. Forces once vanquished in the past resurfacing for yet another assault on freedom as is the history of government and man; as Madison put it: “Since the general civilization of mankind”. We are currently suffering under an administration that identifies more with socialist and communist ideologies than with free market capitalism. Disguising their newly sped-up assault on our freedom in false two-faced compassion, such has been done though out history in order to abridge “the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachment”. These are individuals who think they are somehow miraculously intellectually superior to the Founders and falsely believe that they stand on the same ground as the geniuses of 1776 rather than standing on their shoulders.
4 – d.) “For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.”
The Democratic House and Senate majority has created a situation where these individuals believe that they can ignore the American public and then proceed to belittle them when they attempt to voice their opposition to their agenda. The treatment of tea party protesters exemplifies this. The left immediately attacked them as being racist,
gun-toting, right wing radicals, who are simply opposed to a black man being president.43
This is utter and complete nonsense and it has not worked to detract people from discovering the truth behind the radical Democratic legislation. Rogue representatives, as well as activist judges have declared, “themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.” To this sort of governing practice where the people are ignored and a political agenda is forced on a citizenry44 , Jefferson wrote in the Declaration:
“In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.”
In addition, by creating uncomfortable circumstances to hold votes on controversial legislation, such as holding votes at the early morning hours when most Americans are in bed sleeping and unaware as to what is happening or holding votes on traditional holidays, such as late evening on Christmas eve,45 it is very much the same as holding meetings in hard-to-reach places as the King of England executed during colonial times (See point 1). (Also see points 4, 4 – a, 4 – b, and 4 – c).
5.) “He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavored to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers”
This applies directly to the lack of immigration enforcement and current immigration policies in place as well as the further injection of race as a controversial issue in American politics. Anyone remember beer-gate? A black college professor wrongly accused a white police patrolman of racial profiling when the officer was called to the residence by a suspicious neighbor. Obama immediately took the opportunity to comment on the situation and decisively took the college professors side adding that the police “acted stupidly”.46 For the leader of the nation to be commenting on a local matter appears to be somewhat of a misuse and a waste of time of the pulpit that is the presidency. When it became clear that the patrolman did not act in an unethical manner President Obama, in an attempt to save face, called together a summit to gather the parties involved and “talk” about it. The president never admitted his mishap and nothing was accomplished to advance race relations in America by the whole ordeal but rather, it hastened the divide amongst the citizenry by injecting race into everyday situations that occurs countless numbers of times on a daily basis.
Furthermore, we tolerate race related groups incessantly lobbying the government for support and who are allowed to do so despite this current presidential administration, which was supposed to be the first “post-racial” president and government.47 We condone groups like “La Raza” or as it’s pronounced in English, “The Race”; a group that calls the western territories of America, unofficial Mexican territories.48 There are Senators in the United States government representing American citizens who are leading members of this group. Race related groups attempt to segregate the population into groups based on their race and then attempt to lobby for that group over another segment of the population. Indeed, this is a fascistic practice, favoring one race over another and attempting to fleece the American people of their wealth and resources in order to support a political agenda, rather than treating all members of society as equals the way a public official ought to treat their constituents and as the federal government ought to treat the individual states. La Raza lobbies endlessly for subverting the traditional aspects of American society by attempting to force the Spanish language on an English speaking country and lobbies for illegal immigrants to be treated the same if not better than the legal tax paying residents of this great country. La Raza holds Mexico as the mother country and not the United States, thereby subverting the interests of the American people for that of the Mexican people, the worst part is we have representatives that support these views!49
In conclusion, the similarities between 1770’s America and 2010 America, go far beyond aesthetics. In retrospect, many of the governing policies of the Crown in 1775 are virtually identical to the governing polices and tactics of modern day America just with a modern flair. When examined in the historical context one can draw from the Declaration of Independence, our founding document that our Founders, would be in utter dismay at the current scope of the government and its seemingly infinite use of powers. Thus, the Progressive social agenda has slowly morphed into a soft tyranny.50
The advancement of Statist ideologies is allowed to permeate into our schools, indoctrinating our youth by promoting certain political and secular religious views over other points of view.51 The growing demands for political correctness and use of falsehoods, such as global warming, are tools used to manipulate the population. The current representation has an ideology in power that supports perpetrating the greatest confiscation and redistribution of wealth ever in the history of the civil society. The overwhelming creation of government entity after government entity has sent upon us, “a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.”
The current conditions and liberties modern day Americans are asked to give up and live without are corollary to many of the grievances that colonial Americans had with the English Crown in 1775 and tantamount to tyrannical control over the population that the Americans of the past would scoff at and are what they themselves revolted against, eventually declaring independence from an oppressive form of government; thereby, establishing the then controversial issue that all men are created equal under God

To believe this, is an utter rejection of the notion of an individual, as a state of nature, that co-exist as equals amongst other individuals under their respective creators. It puts the institutions of men atop that of nature and nature’s god, thereby, drawing the inference that men are akin to gods. The current secularist attitude pits man against man, as well as establishing a hierarchy of man above man and creating a world order where the governments of man permeate into every facet of human existence in the quest to gain absolute control over the free will of men. If left unchecked, we will be idol in allowing a world in which the only absolution, the only knowledge, the only truth will be dictated, handed down and manufactured by the government bureaucracies of men. However benign or compassionate their supposed intentions are, the governments of men, although a necessary evil, are as imperfect as the human beings they are made up of and, therefore, subject to debilitating corruption; this is the reason why government powers must be checked at all times and viewed through the lens that is our founding document, “The Declaration of Independence” and our governing document, “The Constitution of the United States”.
After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the government then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small, complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd.
