Susanna Martinez is the Republican candidate for Governor of New Mexico. Martinez has been running a strong grass roots ground campaign across the state. A recent Rasmussen poll showed that Martinez, leads the Democratic gubernatorial nominee, current Lt. Governor Diane Denish, 48% to 43% among likely voters; and a local Albuquerque Journal poll shows Martinez ahead 45% to 39%. Denish has been in office for almost 8 years as Lt. Governor in New Mexico.
Ms. Martinez is the current District Attorney for the 3rd Judicial District in Doña Ana County, New Mexico, a position she has held for 13 years. The New Mexico media has referred to Susana’s candidacy for governor as a “game changer” and the Las Cruces Sun-News said that she is “someone with real credentials to handle the job of governor.”
Susanna is a conservative who believes in less government, fiscal responsibility, lower taxes, and personal responsibility. She is pro-life, and strongly supports the 2nd Amendment. She earned her law degree from the University of Oklahoma.
Susanna was endorsed by Governor Sarah Palin during the New Mexico Republican gubernatorial primary. As Erick has said, “We have to get conservatives elected nation wide. It is not enough to focus on Washington. It is not enough to focus on our own state. We need to look across the country and find good conservatives down to the local level. Somewhere between town council and the United States Senate though are those candidates who have a measurable, tangible, real impact on national issues, but are in the states. Governors are like that. Think of the real impact Bobby Jindal has had on the health care debate. Or Rick Perry. Or, in a negative way, Charlie Crist and the stimulus.”
Susanna is in a position to win in November, but she needs our financial help. In the effort to help Susanna become the first woman to be elected Governor of New Mexico, a RedState “Money Bomb” would be of immense value, particularly given the huge financial advantage of her Democratic opponent. Let’s do it! The campaign web site is below.
