Why it wouldn't work out with McCain/Palin anyway ...

It’s a simple premise: tell the big lie long enough and sooner (or later in poor communications) it will be believed … BUT … sooner or later reality will intrude and the house will collapse.

This is what happened with the old Soviet Union. Four year plans and five year plans were laid for industry and military and education and such, and all these plans had unrealistic goals. Because they didn’t want to irritate “people” such as Joseph Stalin those who gathered the statistics simply lied and reported glowing results.

It didn’t take long after Gorbachev’s perestroika (openness) for the people of Russia to understand they weren’t crazy and things really were totally screwed up in under the USSR’s government. And it took less time for the Soviet Union to become “the old Soviet Union”.

The Republicans at the national level of US governance have been offering us the same thing … lies about how great everything is. Whether it’s wars that have INCREASED terrorist attacks around the world; national deficits and debt; our only source of food, water, air and shelter (aka our physical environment) or more doesn’t matter. As long as we’re fed one big lie after another and never given an opportunity to discuss the lies and issues in a calm format, these politicians know we can be made to believe their lies simply by repetition.

And it’s happening again:

John McCain is no “maverick”. He’s stood up FOR lobbyists (hires them to run his campaign even) and stood by his fellow Republicans on the Hill through thick and thin.

And Palin?

“Back to reality. Of the 50 states, Alaska ranks No. 1 in taxes per resident and No. 1 in spending per resident. Its tax burden per resident is 2 1/2 times the national average; its spending, more than double. The trick is that Alaska’s government spends money on its own citizens and taxes the rest of us to pay for it. Although Palin, like McCain, talks about liberating ourselves from dependence on foreign oil, there is no evidence that being dependent on Alaskan oil would be any more pleasant to the pocketbook.”

Yeah … I know … it’s that damned libral press again. BUT THAT DOESN’T CHANGE THE PUBLIC AND EASY TO OBTAIN FACTS!

Want to know why McCain and Palin will decry the Fannie and Freddie bailouts while simultaneously telling us they support those same bailouts?

The answer is there for you to find. It ain’t pretty and it’s why this time around won’t work any better than the last time around.
